Jindal: SCOTUS Is 'Out of Control, Let's Just Get Rid of the Court'

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal slammed the Supreme Court on Friday after its ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage.

“The Supreme Court is completely out of control, making laws on their own, and has become a public opinion poll instead of a judicial body,” the 2016 presidential candidate said in a statement.

“If we want to save some money, let’s just get rid of the court,” Jindal added.

The 5-4 ruling, which forces all states to recognize same-sex marriage under the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause, will fundamentally transform the institution of marriage, he later said.

“Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that,” he added.

Jindal also echoed Franklin Graham warning today that the persecution of Christians is coming with this ruling.

“Hillary Clinton and the Left will now mount an all-out assault on religious freedom guaranteed in the First Amendment,” he said.

“Regardless of your views on marriage, all freedom-loving people must pledge to respect our first amendment rights,” he added.

Chief Justice John Roberts was particularly concerned with the religious freedom aspect of the ruling as well.

“Many good and decent people oppose same-sex marriage as a tenet of faith,” he wrote in his dissenting opinion, “and their freedom to exercise religion is—unlike the right imagined by the majority—actually spelled out in the Constitution.”

Christians “better be ready,” Graham warned.

Get rid of the Court?

Not very sharp.
The issue is : Accountability.

Algorithm for saving America

1. Impeach.
2. Convict.
3. Repeat.

That isn’t going to happen, at least at the Federal level.

Perhaps President Jindal and President Abbott can come to a more beneficial accommodation for the long term.

C'mon. It was just hyperbole. "If you want to save some money, let's get rid of the court."

Hes's just saying that it's currently useless, which is true.

Sure is worth having a discussion about exactly what the court is suppose to do. Their current power level wasn’t envisioned by the framers. When they write or re-write law they have exceeded their authority and we must curtail this. It’s my understanding that Congress has the authority to make some of that happen, it should.

At least Governor Jindal is taking an unambiguous stand, unlike the Florida twins-—Bush and Rubio.

This is an attack on both family and religion; the two bulwarks against oppressive government.

The gov. has already destroyed the black family and is working hard on doing the same on poor whites.

Academia has been and continues to attack religion and they're using our $$ to do it.

The solution is to DEMAND accountability
(going back to the stolen FBI files by Clinton)
and make all Equal under the Law (the EXEMPT disagree,
from SCOTUS to pOTUS to the “US” Congress).

The curse for failure of the above
has already wrought much damage,
possibly irreversible.

It was just hyperbole. "If you want to save some money, let's get rid of the court."

Hyperbole that displays a wretched understanding of the Constitution. Or has he never read Article III?

It, the supreme court, is worse than useless. It is harmful.

I actually believe that no one person should be able to serve for life in any government capacity. It is just too easy for them to hide their real ideals, convictions and intent in the vetting process as it is now. If I had my druthers, I’d rather have them only eligible to serve 8 years. Either that, or make the requirements for impeachment and removal much less difficult.

All due respect, how do we demand accountability from elected officials who lied to get in office.
I really want to know

TPA

BENGHAZI

IRS

to name a small few

Article III can be amended, and there is a proposed amendment that provides a framework for legal nullification of federal court decisions by a majority of the states.

Meanwhile, there is the Rosa Parks / Gandhi solution, which can be practiced by individuals. Doesn't save any money, but smells like freedom, to me.

We should be able to vote for the Supremes — all federal judges — as we do locally.

And there should be term limits — as I'd like to see in congress.

I predict that within five years, those churches which refuse to perform same sex “marriages” will lose their tax exempt status. Within ten years, those priests and ministers who refuse to perform these “marriages” will be heavily fined and/or arrested. By the time my great niece (she’s 3) is an adult, it may be illegal for her to go to Mass.

Interesting that they issued the ObamaCare ruling first, and then Queer marriage ruling. Nobody talking about the ObamaCare ruling...just a coincidence?
