The reenactments are rarely held on the actual battlefield. There’s a nearby private farm in Adams County that has similar terrain features thats used.
The Battlefield Park and town of Gettysburg do benefit financially from the reenacment. Maybe the reenactors should cancel it.
Hope it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy.
Just took visiting all of the national battelfields off our bucket list. Memorials and gift shop items?

Already saw two opinion pieces on just that today. Reenactments perpetuate the lost cause romanticism, etc.
You should still go to the battlefields. I’m sure the NPS Rangers and (at Gettysburg) licensed guides are incensed by this.
Just don’t spend a dime at the gift shop/visitors center.
It won’t be much of a show if the Confederate re-enactors don’t show up!
