Just as long as the Yankees don’t try to move down here we don’t care what they think, do or say. Stay up North in the Democratic Socialist States of the NE.
If it weren’t for Cook County, Illinois would most likely be one of the more conservative states in the Union.
Best,
L
Yeah that’s the ticket. :-)
This entire country has been taken over by about 5 percent of the population. They are all commie socialist, a.k.a Hollywood elites, Democrat and Republican elites, and those idiots in the so called mainstream media. If the other 95% was not so clueless we might be able to rid ourselves of that 5% of the population who are destroying this nation. That 5 % includes the current administration and most of the judiciary.
:sigh:
The 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments formalized the authority used to justify the Emancipation Proclamation, okay?
The Republican candidates were being asked about the flag in order to connect their party to the Charleston church massacre by way of the flag. The whole premise of the question was guilt by association. There was no practical reason to ask Scott Walker, running for president from the notorious Southern outpost of Wisconsin, about a flag flying in South Carolina.
What they were really being asked is, Have you racist Republicans ended your support for killing black people.

And?
I’m sure Champaign/Urbana should be exicsed too.
Well played.....
People who summon the liberal media as an argument for flying the Confederate flag on state property don’t have much of an argument.
I understand it being part of Southern pride, but why should it fly on government property?
So here we go.............

“but why should it fly on government property?”
A state government, Constitutionally, represents the will of the people. Across the nation, for example, old buildings that house seats of government have Christianity chiseled on their walls. This idea of government property being antiseptically cleansed of all hallowed cultural symbols is very new and rejects historical usage. If a state wants to fly the Confederate flag on its property, that is their constitutional prerogative. If a state does not, that is also their constitutional prerogative.
you said the flag should not fly on governmental property
I’m fairly sure Arlington National Cemetery is governmental property
Of course it is their Constitutional privilege. Does that make it right?
If Georgia wants to put a swastika on their flagpole, they could, but it would be the wrong thing to do.
No, the Confederate flag isn’t the equivalent of the swastika, but like it or not, it has been used by many as a means of hatred.
What is the argument to keep it flying on government property?
In the end, the members of government will vote and everyone will have to respect that decision no matter how it turns out.
On a personal note:
I was the first white to be invited to join an all black golf club. I accepted.
A group of 40 of us flew to South Carolina for a weekend of golf. Twice that weekend, trucks with Confederate flags drove by and taunted our group. They were s cumbags trying to use the flag as intimidation.
That was almost 20 years ago and it was when I realized it was time to take the flag down.
“If Georgia wants to put a swastika on their flagpole, they could, but it would be the wrong thing to do.”
Typical liberal BS rationalizing we use to hear during discussions in college, implying that evil darkens the soul of the great unwashed. In case you don’t know, the swastika is not an American icon.
“They were scumbags trying to use the flag as intimidation.”
No, they were scumbags using themselves to intimidate. I have seen pictures of the KKK in parade, using only the American flag. How does that differ from your experience? Did that parade morph the American flag into something evil?
It would be impossible for me to express my contempt for people who are so easily and mindlessly stampeded into a self-righteous frenzy about a flag that, until only recently, would not even cause anyone to raise an eyebrow. Remember the Dukes of Hazard? An aircraft carrier once had that symbol as its flag, it was so benign. Getting rid of the Confederate flag will not amount to a fart in a hurricane. Liberals and the self-righteous will very quickly start sniffing around to find something else, some part of OUR American heritage, to smear, besmirch, and to expunge in order to erase OUR American identity.
Ah yes, if someone disagrees with you they must be a liberal.
If you can’t understand that that flag can and has been used as a source of intimidation, you are even more simplistic than a liberal.
Not everyone uses the flag that way, but others have.
In the end, whether it be tomorrow or in 5 years, this will cease to be a topic of conversation.
Don’t worry. You’ll still be able to worship the flag. Just not in or outside government offices. In the end, economic factors win out.
“Ah yes, if someone disagrees with you they must be a liberal.”
Talk about being simplistic; I did not accuse you of being a liberal, I merely said that you were using a liberal’s logic. There is a difference.
“If you cant understand that that flag can and has been used as a source of intimidation, you are even more simplistic than a liberal.”
My point was clear; simple minded people permit the media to stampede them emotionally. The intimidation aspect was ginned up by the media. I gave you examples of how the flag was previously used without incident.
“Not everyone uses the flag that way, but others have.”
Name something created that has not been misused.
“Dont worry. Youll still be able to worship the flag. Just not in or outside government offices. In the end, economic factors win out.”
Flying the flag is still a state choice. It just remains to see if the pols are as prissy as you are. Also, from a swastika on a Georgia flag pole to me worshiping the flag — can’t get away from your liberal bromides.
The central question is why you are upset about the flag leaving government flagpoles.
Thereby eliminating his premise...
“The central question is why you are upset about the flag leaving government flagpoles.”
1.) The whole thing is a liberal media ginned up frenzy.
2.) In this case, an atrocity is being used to advance a leftest political agenda. The Confederate flag had nothing to do with it, no more that the Gold tee shirt the demon was wearing, or the watch, for that matter.
3.) Government is supposed to be of the people, by the people, for the people. If the people want a particular flag on their government flagpole, so be it. A government flagpole represents the will of the people, not the government. In the United States, historically, the government is appointed by the will of the people.
4.) Laws and decisions are supposed to be made by deliberative bodies in a deliberative fashion and not based on the emotion of the moment.
