The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back: Donald Trump announces for President

Donald Trump is running for president. The multi-billionaire announced his presidential plans today from his namesake tower in New York City. Trump, 69, was introduced by his daughter Ivanka as he formally declared his 2016 intentions, descending down an escalator with wife Melania to speak to the gathered crowd. In his remarks he attacked the Obama administration on everything from immigration and terrorism to Obamacare and the job market as he promised to bring back the American dream. He also released his financial information, revealing a net worth of $8.7billion.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created 'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

As for what he could do for the country, Trump said he would be the 'greatest jobs president God ever created.' He then added; 'The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before.'

As for Obamacare, Trump called the program a 'disaster.' 'ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with something far superior and at far less cost,' he said in his remarks.

Trump also put much of the focus of his speech on the issue of immigration.

The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. 'It is way past time to build a massive wall to secure our southern border - and nobody can build a bigger and better wall than Donald Trump,' said Trump.

“I knew families who operated sewing plants for several decades until the cheaper foreign imports put them all out of business. “

I guess you don’t know the difference between a sewing plant and a textile mill. They are as different a business as there could be. The only common thread is that they both involve thread. Textile mills involve chemicals, and potential water contamination, the EPA has driven them out of business.

"I'll vote for Trump pver any establishment candidate".

I have no idea if he is legit.

"One thing, I do know, everyone establishment candidate is globalist bought, paid for and controlled".

And, YES it has come to that.

I know everyone else in the GOP field will work against my interests on major issues I care about.

I currently have no reason to believe Trump will do that.

In 2011, this Q&A took place: found here: http://www.ontheissues.org/Celeb/Donald_Trump_Abortion.htm

Q: Evangelicals want to feel secure that they're going to have a nominee that's solid on those social issues.

A: One thing about me, I'm a very honorable guy. I'm pro-life, but I changed my view a number of years ago. One of the primary reasons I changed [was] a friend of mine's wife was pregnant, and he didn't really want the baby. He was crying as he was telling me the story. He ends up having the baby and the baby is the apple of his eye. It's the greatest thing that's ever happened to him. And you know here's a baby that wasn't going to be let into life. And I heard this, and some other stories, and I am pro-life.

Q: So those stories did change you, they came around and changed you?

A: They changed me. Yeah, they changed my view as to that, absolutely.

I guess you don’t know the difference between a sewing plant and a textile mill.

Lol, I absolutely know the difference and have been through both types. That's why I used the term 'sewing factory' to clearly distinguish from textile mills that produce various fabrics.

You sure made youself look foolish in thinking you were making some brilliant correction. Lol.

The history of third parties is that they throw the election to the majority party. The GOP is more conservative than at any time in our lifetimes. We have a real chance to elect a conservative, but not one that we can agree with on every issue. Don’t throw that away on a fake like Trump.

He’s using us to let someone else win.

“”””If he really is serious about this ....””””

He would have declared himself a Democrat and taken on Hillary for the DEM nomination. Less competition!!!!!!

“Same gambit, just earlier this time. Given Trump’s rhetoric, he’s siphoning votes from conservatives. That helps two people who represent the elites of their respective parties: Hillary! and Jeb.”

That's nonsense! Trump is far more Populist than any of the announced conservative candidates. He is more likely to take votes from Jeb than from them, because he's not a conservative ideolog. I get it that you don't like Trump, but at least be honest about him, his message is right, you just don't happen to like the messenger.

"You deserve what happens."

I DO NOT LIKE Donald Trump either.

But he might be the right man at the right time.

Certainly I cannot see, cannot envision in my worst nightmare, how he could be any worse than the last 3-4 that have held the office.

They have done little but bleed this country dry.

Can you see him choosing his VP candidate on a brief renewal of his TV show "The Apprentice"

That would be a ratings block buster.

I would pay to see it. Even buy popcorn for everyone. Lol!

“You sure made youself look foolish in thinking you were making some brilliant correction. Lol.”

No, you did! Government regulations didn’t put your “sewing factory” out of business, foreign competition did. But the textile mills did have “government help” (along with foreign competition) to put them out of business. Same for shoe factories, and a lot of other industries that posed “environmental issues.” Go drive around New England and look at all the old mills that are empty.
