The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back: Donald Trump announces for President

Donald Trump is running for president. The multi-billionaire announced his presidential plans today from his namesake tower in New York City. Trump, 69, was introduced by his daughter Ivanka as he formally declared his 2016 intentions, descending down an escalator with wife Melania to speak to the gathered crowd. In his remarks he attacked the Obama administration on everything from immigration and terrorism to Obamacare and the job market as he promised to bring back the American dream. He also released his financial information, revealing a net worth of $8.7billion.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created 'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

As for what he could do for the country, Trump said he would be the 'greatest jobs president God ever created.' He then added; 'The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before.'

As for Obamacare, Trump called the program a 'disaster.' 'ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with something far superior and at far less cost,' he said in his remarks.

Trump also put much of the focus of his speech on the issue of immigration.

The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. 'It is way past time to build a massive wall to secure our southern border - and nobody can build a bigger and better wall than Donald Trump,' said Trump.

In the announcement, he’s right on immigration, on jobs, on ObamaCare, and on the border fence. I don’t know where he’s at on social issues. He’s right on China, Trade, ObamaTrade, money manipulation, and the castration of America.

If you are a social issues voter, at the end of the day I don't think you can vote for Trump.

However, all the other stuff is of critical importance, and he's the only one who is on the right side of all of it.

Very tough choices coming up.

Sorry, Donald—money won’t buy my love—or my vote.

If I say if he makes it, which I seriously doubt. I would vote for him over Hilary any day of the week!!!

Actually, I’m one who argued against ‘the lesser evil.’

However, I’m a pragmatist. When the Ohio primary comes, I’ll vote for the most conservative candidate still standing. When November comes, I’ll vote for the most conservative candidate running.

That’s why I don’t mind Trump getting into the race. First, he’s not a career politician, and I find that interesting, refresing. Second, he has ideas, abilities, and positions. He might end up being the best.

Time will tell. It’s America, and he’s free to jump in if he wants.

the he ought to shut his mouth about imports and China, and focus on why industry finds it impossible to operate in our regulatory environment.

No, he needs to talk about the past trade deals that caused some many factories and jobs to leave the US. And, as much as some of you love blame it all on regulation, the biggest factor was and still is cheap labor. Sewing plants did not leave the US, most of them twenty and more years ago, because of the reglatory environment.

And now even China has become too expensive at around $3.00 per hour, so many clothing and shoe companies are leaving China for Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, etc. Because of the ongoing quest for the cheapest available labor.

The fact is, that he may well be right about being the greatest jobs president ever. With half the working age not working, it’s hard to imagine another president having more opportunity to impact jobs.

And Trump knows what’s required. He understands the impact our bad trade deals have had.

I’m glad to see Trump enter. Especially now that Cruz has GOPe’d himself on trade.

Now, if he actually did form a real third party (or should I say 2nd party), there’s every reason to think that could be beneficial.

Well I’m still for Cruz....but Trump has a place IMO as far as carrying the message...and I think that’s why he’s running...he’s going to “tell” what he knows.

It also gives him an International Stage as the World does watch these elections...so good for Business...although his name is pretty much known throughout.

Whatever his reason...which may very well be he sees himself as the answer and the “tough love” solution to the nonsense currently going on in this country, he’s a plus in this election IMO.

He brought up all the issues that bother us, just like Perot. You’re watching a theater play. It’s a lie. He’s not really running, but helping another “New Yorker” to win the Presidency.

We’re the enemy.

He says he’s for traditional marriage. I just read that on a different thread.

I still don’t know his position on God or on Life or on Guns.

his speech kind of reminded me of Mussolini

That's pretty good!

Though Mussolini at least had the good taste to shave his head.

Social issues mean squat if the country isn’t making money.....it’s a matter of priority.

When people support hard liberals 2 elections running and then offer support for yet another, I don’t know that does not make the people doing hard libs themselves if words and actions mean anything at all.

Thereby allowing Jeb or Hillary! to come across as moderate. He’s in it to win it, but for somebody else.

Don’t get fooled by the Perot gambit.

“And, as much as some of you love blame it all on regulation, “

I doubt you could even build a textile mill in the US anymore. You couldn’t get it past the EPA.
