Former students from Eastern Washington and Howard Universities told BuzzFeed News about their classroom encounters with Rachel Dolezal, who taught courses in Africana studies and studio art.
Rachel Dolezal once did not let a student participate in a class activity about race and culture because she did not appear Hispanic enough, the student told BuzzFeed News on Friday.
Dolezal, president of the Spokane, Washington, chapter of the NAACP, gained notoriety Thursday when her parents disclosed that she has been passing herself off as black for years. The revelation has prompted questions about the other aspects of Dolezal’s life, including claims that she has been the victim of hate crimes and received threatening letters.
The student — who, like many others interviewed for this article, asked to remain anonymous — told BuzzFeed News that she took two courses with Dolezal during her freshman year to fulfill academic requirements at Eastern Washington University.

Maybe she’s not mentally ill. Maybe she’s just an opportunist. And a liar.
It’s fascinating, though, how this phenomenon in our society went from “passing as white” to now “passing as black.”
Amazing how she was able to fool so many people.

Neither the NAACP or the University DARE to fire her. To do so would be DISCRIMINATION BASED ON RACE, a violation of Federal Law, resulting in a huge lawsuit, and possible jail time.
The only thing they can do is try to buy her off, with the promise to resign.

The NAACP appears to be circling the wagons around this woman, which is interesting to watch. I guess she’s DOWN with the STRUGGLE!!
Did she offer any tips on how to appear more hispanic? How to roll the Rs? Maybe take some salsa dance classes? Wear more Che shirts?
You may have hit on the moment her shape changing obsession began. By average white standards of acceptable beauty, Rachael was quite plain as a young girl. She needed to find some way to make herself standout. Someway to make it easier for people to accept her as is. Now she’s become consumed with maintaining a lie of her own making.
I guess she’s going to make an announcement tomorrow, I wonder what it’ll be.

My question is this....how MANY more people are players in the NAACP but white? Won’t they need to conduct a test or an investigation over every single member?

Elaine: "No. Why would you think that?"
Darryl: "Your name's Benes, your hair, and you kept taking me to those Spanish restaurants."
Elaine: "That's because I thought you were black."
Darryl: "Why would you take me to a Spanish restaurant because I'm black?"
Elaine: "I don't think we should be talking about this."
Darryl: "So, what are you?"
Elaine: "I'm white."
Darryl: "So, we're just a couple of white people?"
Elaine: "I guess."
Darryl: "Oh."
Elaine: "Yeah. So do you want to go to the Gap?"
Darryl, leaving with Elaine: "Sure."
