Theres a new wrinkle to the emails Hillary Clinton turned over to the State Department.
On Friday, the department released 300 of the 30,000 emails the former Secretary of State turned over from her private email server.
The State Department teased the news by claiming that there would be no big news found in the email:
But among them, apparently, were details on Benghazi that were considered so sensitive as to now be classified.
The Associated Press laid out the details:
The email in question, forwarded to Clinton by her deputy chief of staff Jake Sullivan, relates to reports of arrests in Libya of possible suspects in the attack.
The information was not classified at the time the email was sent but was upgraded from unclassified to secret on Friday at the request of the FBI, according to State Department officials. They said 23 words of the Nov. 18, 2012, message were redacted from the days release of 296 emails totaling 896 pages to protect information that could damage foreign relations.
Because the information was not classified at the time the email was sent, no laws were violated, but Fridays redaction shows that Clinton received sensitive information on her unsecured personal server.
The Clinton campaign quickly fired back at the news, reminding people that it was just recently classified:
The emails also contained redactions that will require further investigation.
IJReview will be updating this story as we know more.
Can we for now on refer to the server as the “Crime Scene”? Or, to be more specific, “Hillary! Crime Scene”?
Fine, but the e-mail server now contains classified information and as such needs to be brought under proper controls. Even if she deleted the e-mail the data is still on disk. You may need forensic software to get at it, but it is there.
Few if any leaders have the cahonies to end this charade once and for all.
Elections used to matter.
We live in dubious times.
If you’re a teacher who helps students cheat on a test you get into big trouble.
If you’re a baseball player who takes growth hormone you’re in big trouble.
If you manipulate exchange rates are in big trouble.
If you kill four people, use your own private CIA, Overthrow a country And export missiles and weapons then that’s okay.
Hillary! Crime Scene?
Alleged Hillary crime scene. First, we have a trial. Then we hang her in the public square. :)
When we lose the honesty of public officials.. It is only a matter of time before the very institutions they ‘lead’ fall prey to collapses of public trust, the same trust those same officials claimed to seek to protect and nurture.
Do you feel nurtured? Do you feel protected?
Those four killed were mere bumps in the road.
I can’t help but wonder if “recent” classification is for political purposes.
There’s a new series in the works, CSI: Clintons.
no kidding
Presuming they have them, they’re for blackmail.
Now we have violated a basic of classification. Classifying something that has already been released thereby bringing attention to the information now classified. We have idiots running our government.
“They said 23 words of the Nov. 18, 2012, message were redacted from the days release of 296 emails totaling 896 pages to protect information that could damage foreign relations.”
Must be serious ‘cause what could hurt foreign relations any worse than they are?
Likely to cover for the regime.
Newsbabe on see bs this morning: “If Republicans were looking for an explosive revelation about Benghazi, they won’t find it in this batch of emails.”
General Petraeus must be thinking “If only I were a leftist with a vagina, I’d not gotten busted mishandling classified info!!” The media attacked him for it, too!
