Your point is?
This says his family was looking at plans offered from the federal exchange under Obamacare.
The bit you posted doesn’t show the publication date.
Has to be old news.
Like Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story”, there’s more.
They signed up for a plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield instead.
However, all plans have to conform to HHS regs.
Everyone, Cruz included, is stuck with this disaster until we are rid of it.
Pathetic.
Couldn’t he get insurance for his family through his position as a senator of the U.S.?
If he is exploring insurance options so that he can go on attack with specific, factual details, that’s great. But I would think that most senators (and representatives etc.) would get great health insurance through our federal government.
Yeah, I don’t think that this WaPo “journalist” is trying to do Cruz any favors even though her “story” really does.
I’m loving it! Every time the mainstream media (and/or other enemies of constitutional conservatism) think they’ve checkmated Ted Cruz on something, he turns it around and places THEM in check.
“Couldnt he get insurance for his family through his position as a senator of the U.S.?”

Yes he could but the “employer provided” health insurance for Congress and congressional staffers consists of the plans provided under Obamacare.
But unlike the “hoi palloi” (i.e., the rest of the nation) they do fall under the usual subsidies which are income adjusted. Instead they get the same HUGE subsidies that other federal employees get for their insurance premiums. And those subsidies do not phase out based on income.
How do they do that? They did it by FALSELY CERTIFYING that Congress is a “small business” (fewer than 50 employees is required to be a small business for Obamacare) and thus the employer could provide whatever subsidies they wanted.
Ted Cruz was SMART to keep far away from this CORRUPT DEFRAUDING of the American Taxpayer. I wonder when someone will ask the duplicitous Marco Rubio whether HE is participate in the FRAUDULENT rip-off of the American taxpayers.
I can see possibly some time (the right time) in the future Cruz telling a story how he went to obamacare website to assess his insurance needs and was horrified with not only the expense, the convoluted details, but the entire nightmare process.
OMG
Cruz is a flip-flopper!
He said he would buy insurance through an exchange and now he doesn’t!!!
He is not qualified to hold any public office and must resign ASAP!!!!
(this is what the WaPO is trying to convey without saying it)
There is a related article on the same subject, featured by Mark Levin, revealing the actions of five U.S. Senators and Mitch McConnell opposing Sen. Vitter's attempt to get to the bottom of this stinking corruption.
Read it here >>> Mark Levin: Rand Paul has some explaining to do
IIRC I think he had said he may have to sign on to follow the law. When he said it I thought “Well I have private health insurance - why can’t he?” I imagine he wasn’t all that up on what the new rules might be. I know when I worked for a company and they provided health insurance for me the details were the least of my concerns. Go in and pay my $15 and pay the bills if things weren’t covered.
Those were the days!
You’re welcome!
Texas intelligently opted out of ObamaCare.
This will get quickly reported, then brushed aside, and when the story comes up, no Postie will correct the record.
That way nobody can say they didn’t report it, but the story doesn’t actually get out.
The great disappearing news story.
That’s it! I am no longer voting for Cruz! /sarc.
That's all I need to know about Cruz, he's not getting my vote.............../s
I just went shopping on Texas BCBS, pretending to be a family of four in Houston, non-smokers, aged 44, 42, 5, and 2.
I landed on this page. I don't see a Platinum Plan only a mixture of HMO and PPO plans in Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The prices range from $593.28 + 107.32 for dental for the Blue Advantage Bronze HMO 006 Plan to $1377.70 + 153.16 dental for the Blue Choice Gold PPO 011 Plan.
I wonder what GS was laying out for Heidi's plan?
