Men's Rights Activists Call For Boycott Of 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' Citing Feminist Agenda
CNN/The Hollywood Reporter ^ | May 16, 2015 AST

A well-known "men's rights activist" blog is calling for a boycott of the postapocalyptic film "Mad Max: Fury Road" for being a "feminist piece of propaganda posing as a guy flick."

Author Aaron Clarey admits he has not seen the film yet, but his self-proclaimed "spidey sense" noticed that Charlize Theron "talked a lot during the trailers" for the film, and he said Tom Hardy only seemed to have cameo appearances. "Charlize Theron's character barked orders to Mad Max," writes Clarey on Return of Kings. "Nobody barks orders to Mad Max."

Clarey did not like reading reviews commending Theron for many of her action scenes, nor did he appreciate the news that the movie's director, George Miller, asked "Vagina Monologues" author Eve Ensler to consult with the five actresses who play sex slaves in the film.

Clarey writes that he is concerned "men in America and around the world are going to be duped by explosions, fire tornadoes, and desert raiders into seeing what is guaranteed to be nothing more than feminist propaganda, while at the same time being insulted AND tricked into viewing a piece of American culture ruined and rewritten right in front of their very eyes."

The movie -- like the original "Mad Max" trilogy -- was filmed in Australia and is directed and co-written by Miller, who is Australian.

Clarey feels Hollywood and Miller tricked him by making a movie that "visually looks amazing."

"Let us be clear. This is the vehicle by which they are guaranteed to force a lecture on feminism down your throat," writes Clarey. "This is the Trojan Horse feminists and Hollywood leftists will use to (vainly) insist on the trope women are equal to men in all things, including physique, strength, and logic."

No Mel, no Mad Max.

Simple as that.

Not interested.

Hadn’t planned on seeing it anyway. Every “reboot” film takes something that was awesome and adds in the gay, feminist, global warming, illegal alien, and/or anti-white male agenda and turns it into a giant steaming pile of crap for the demographic that made the original into a classic.

It’s going to be hard for any R rated movie to beat a PG13 teeny bopper movie about crap music or whatever the heck pitch perfect 2 is about.

What is this guy complaining about? Here’s the official trailer:

I don’t see her “barking” orders to Mad Max.

Almost all movies and TV shows are made for the purpose of promoting a specific agenda. The plot and story line are molded around the agenda. While the viewer willingly suppresses his disbelief the agenda is piped into his head.

If the critic DIDN'T see the flick, I don't care what his OPINION is.

Opinions are like a$$#oles. Everybody has them.

The movie -- like the original "Mad Max" trilogy -- was filmed in Australia

Funny, when did Namibian Desert become part of Australia?

“Well-known men’s rights activit”? I’ve been involved in men’s rights for a decade and a half, and I never heard of the guy.

What??

This is just stupid. I saw it. )I love a good, wild action flick) and it was fun. I would highly recommend it if you like that kind of thing. It was, essentially, the best car chase ever from beginning to end.

People who think there is some agenda (other than making money) with this movie, probably have a wardrobe of tinfoil hats.

LOL, evidently.

I had looked forward to seeing the Mad Max movie, but I’ve noticed films over the last ten years or so being more about indoctrination than entertainment.

I refuse to sign on to movies that draw you in for one purpose, and then game you once you’re in your seat.

I know exactly where this guy is coming from. If he’s right, screw everyone involved in this.

I was actually angry when I went to go see Hugo and it turned out to be a purposeful tug at the heartstrings to support the film preservation and restoration industry.

I had been drawn in the premise of a Sci-Fi experience. That pretty much evaporated.

I can understand English folks. If you want my support, explain what you want it for in an honest manner and I’ll give it consideration.

Pull the “Hugo” B. S. on me and you’ll never see a dime.

The Left will never make a film about a genuine female hero in a post-apocalypic world such as experienced by Filipina guerilla leader and outspoken pro-American Yay Panlilio

I'm not familiar with this "well-known "men's rights activist", but from this article, he seems like some leftwing caricature of what they envision as a kooky men's right advocate.

He's trolling, I suspect. Ignore him.
