As a martial arts/firearms’ instructor, I’m often asked what constitutes the “best” gun for a survival situation. My stock answer is, “A good .357 Magnum stainless steel revolver with a 4-inch barrel.” However, when asked this question at other times, I’ll simply tell the person that the gun they are carrying is the “best” because it’s what they are carrying at the time they might need it.
But really, when it comes to the .357 Magnum, there isn’t a better gun/ammo combination anyone could ask for in an all-around “best” gun set-up. I don’t make this statement lightly, either. The .357 Magnum round in a good, solid, stainless steel revolver can put meat on the table or save your bacon if need be.

I have a few. I like it because they shoot 38 special, 38 +Ps and magnums. However, I just like the 6” bbls a whole lot more. My daughter is very deadly accurate with hers.
1. A rifle is always better than a pistol for outdoor survival
2. Most game that matters is small game.
3. A .22 long rifle is better because of weight of ammo, utility, accuracy, and quieter

This article needs more details to determine if the .357 is really “THE BEST”. Are we talking about carrying it in a Ford or a Chevy?
And wadcutters can take small game without major meat damage.
A 10 mm pistol ain’t bad either, but .357 ammo is easier and cheaper to find, not to mention you can use .38 specials in a .357 revolver.
You can load snake shot,wadcutters And Hollow Points and keep the target guessing!

Colt Python is sitting in the drawer of my desk here, absolutely love this thing and will keep it until I die.
Built back in the early 70’s when Colt was still on top of its game, far more accurate and reliable than I ever will be.
She’s a mother of 3.......I ain’t kidding about being a deadeye.....I’ve seen her lots of times push that target on out to the maximum extent of the indoor range we use and shoot some pretty good groups. It makes the other guys in the range step over and see who isn’t shooting on the rifle lane...
Eyes good, hands and arms steady as a rock. Good stance and good control. Handles recoil like a champ. She’s never not wanted to shoot every gun I have.
I have a couple of 10mm Colts, and the nice thing about them is in a pinch you can run .40 cal through it no problem, just remember to clean the chamber corner good before putting 10’s back in.

Mine’s the vent rib 6”. No spare barrels but at least I got the briefcase. I meant was. You know, boats.
This works for me ... it has been around for over a century ... it has been proven in every war since it was introduced ... it has functioned well in deserts, jungles, and arctic environments -- on land and sea ... its enemies hate and fear it ... and libtards everywhere want to see it banned!
