Abandoned pet found on road with broken bones and deep bite marks

Thrown from car after being used as bait for blood-thirsty killer dogs

Somehow avoided traffic, but still broke leg and punctured lung

Rescued by two animal lovers who took £3,000 loan to pay for his surgery

Twisted dog-fighters got rid of a whippet used for baiting killer devil dogs by throwing it from a car at 50mph on a packed motorway.

The cruel owners tossed the helpless dog out the window and on to the road surface of the M56 in Cheshire after it had already been badly hurt readying blood-thirsty breeds ahead of illegal dog fights.

While it miraculously dodged oncoming traffic, the traumatised pet was left at the side of the road with serious injuries, including a broken leg, limb and a fractured lung.

George Costanza paid the vet to help the injured squirrel.

I decided to chop off the squirrel’s head when one of my dogs brought me one.

I stopped working on my Freeper homepage when I finished documenting what could be done with the HTML 4.2 idiom (what works on FR). More recent work describes CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which are now the preferred container for formatting information. Additionally HTML5, JavaScript and SQL (databases) are more fully explored.

With the proliferation of display devices, screens now come in a wide variety of sizes and aspect ratios. The image below illustrates the range of screens possible. Differing aspect ratios are shown on the diagonal lines with the ratio in circles towards the lower right.

Given the wide variation in screen resolution and size when we step from mobi to fondleslab to display to HDTV it is lunacy to specify screen position in term of pixels. There is no way to know what sized screen you are imaging to so it is best to reference screen sizes and positions in percentages instead. The resulting size is the percentage of the width (or height) of the enclosing container. This is most useful when specifying positions and sizes of tables and images. The HTML for the image above looks like:

<img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/44/Vector_Video_Standards5.svg" width="95%">

The width="95%" part sets the image width to 95% of the width of the enclosing container. We leave the height unspecified so that the computer will figure out the correct value so as not to distort the image. If you wish to distort the image you may specify a height as well.

Things that are text related, such as the whitespace around a paragraph or header and text sizes are best specified in em. One em was originally the width of an M in the current font. In a multi-lingual world where not all alphabets have an M in them, the meaning has evolved to mean the height of the current font. As the user changes the magnification on a page the size of an em changes with it. This produces a pleasing scaled effect to the eye not possible when spacing objects in pixels.

Other unit values available are in inch, cm centimeter, mm millimeter, ex x-height of a font (x-height is usually about half the font-size), pt point - 1/72 of an inch, pc pica - 12 points and px pixels - a single dot on the screen. If no units are specified pixels are used by default. Best results across the broad spectrum of displays are achieved by exclusively using em and percent to specify size and distance. Try not to do anything else.

Thank you very much for this html lesson.

And kudos for the cogent documentation on your FR home page.

Smarter brother indeed.

It’s only 3 grand between two people, they can pay it off in about 6 months and may even get help from friends or family. The loan thing means nothing and really isn’t part of the story.

These people helped an animal in need, that to me is the story.

You have a right to your opinion but it’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Yes, but one shouldn’t be silenced by fear of the opinions of fools. It’s how we get community organizers for president.

For me, it IS the story. There are all sorts of humane ways to take care of an injured animal that cost less than a quarter, and people do it all the time. The money is the story.

Also, your income level determines whether this amount is a big deal. I can tell you that in rural KY where I live, virtually every single person that I expose to this story will consider these people, regarding the money, bat s**t crazy. And we take care of a LOT of animals out here.

I’m chuckling reading all the responses back to you regarding your original comment. I don’t necessarily agree with you (and ain’t it wonderful that we don’t have to) but I sure understand where you’re coming from. They will never let it go.....ever.....ever....no, really, ever. But these are mild compared to some of the responses I received when I “voiced” my opinion on the woman veterinarian that shot the cat in the head with her bow and then stupidly posted pictures to Facebook. :)

So kind and generous, and may I say effortless, of you to share your wisdom and judgment in regards to how other people should think, while passing judgement on their past behaviors of which you have no information, all in one fell swoop.

For me, it IS the story.

I kind of gathered that from your first post.

you're fine

you're fine

I see the story beginning with the the horrors of dog fighting and cruelty to animals, but then it goes on to explain this dog's incredible good fortune.

The dog survived being thrown in the ring with a fighting dog, then out of a car at 50MPH and finally makes it out of the road without being crushed by an automobile. Instead of laying on the side of the road and dying this dog is lucky enough to be found by two people that want to save him. I do suppose it was unfortunate for the dog that these kind people did not have the money to give it much needed medical care.

But wait these people were willing to take on debt to save this dog.

That was the story for me.

My bible is about the condition of man and his relationship with his Creator. It rarely mentions the welfare of animals

I've witnessed the actions of you self professed Christians and read your comments here on this website and your own derision of a couple who are willing to offer aid to a severely injured animal reaffirms my belief that whatever church YOU belong to, I have no wish to join........
