Gov. Scott Walker, Mayor Tom Barrett: Call a summit on crime
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 26 apr 2015

Posted on 04/26/2015 10:06:05 AM PDT by rellimpank

In a series of meetings in recent days, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Police Chief Edward Flynn have challenged state and community leaders to launch a conversation to address the gun violence that has hammered some of the city's most troubled neighborhoods this spring.

With 46 homicides as of Friday (a 170% increase over last year), violence has reached a level that no one in the city — or the state — should tolerate. Barrett and Flynn make a good point. We think Flynn has a sound targeted, data-driven strategy that can and has worked, at least until this spring, but police cannot do this alone. There must be a meaningful conversation on how to deal effectively with this tragic surge in crime that includes all parties that can help.

That's why today we're calling on Barrett and Gov. Scott Walker to call a summit meeting to begin the search for solutions. State leaders also bear responsibility for addressing Milwaukee's challenges — although they've been doing their best to duck it.

In addition to the governor, mayor and police chief, a summit should include key lawmakers, the state attorney general, the U.S. attorney for Eastern Wisconsin, and leaders from the courts, business, civic groups, churches and charities.

This could get a Walker a lot of positive recognition as a problem solver.

They want Walker to accept their premise and meet with Barrett, so that they can bash him later.

Walker is too smart to fall for this BS.

All that is needed is the One Broken Window policy and I can guarantee two ( 2 ) things.
Less crime, including murders and the black leaders will be screaming RACEISM from the top of their lungs.

I live in Wauwatosa, the city immediately to the west of Milwaukee. Milwaukee is a cancer on the entire state. Barrett is a gelding, useless politician. Walker is a great guy but he can’t fix Milwaukee, no one can. Abandon all hope ye who enter should be a sign on every entrance.

I am gone in 3-5 years so I don’t care anymore, I simply CC my 45.

Walker should call for a Beer Summit!

Curious if he would get mocked for that?

....address the gun violence that has hammered some of the city's most troubled neighborhoods this spring.

Hey "journalists":

Gun violence...in fact, any degeneration of society--the sexual perversion rampant and applauded, the racism that flows between both whites and blacks and reds and yellows, the increased dependence upon government, the growth of disease, the lack of nuclear family structure--a mother and a father and child--, all stems from a turning away from the Judeo-Christian truth that we are creatures who owe our Creator praise.

Idolatry is the sum total of all else.

So you can get rid of guns, and knives will replace them.

You can get rid of knives, and stones will replace them.

Fists will replace stones.

Sin is in the human heart and it can only be removed by a Saviour who is greater than the human heart and creation.

So stop depending on government to save you. In fact, you're making a step forward when you reject a government solution.

No, this is liberals projecting their failures onto Walker.

Walker has nothing to gain by meeting with loser Barrett.

The ONLY way this will be productive is IF Sheriff Clark is in attendance.

Indeed! From the article:

The problem in Milwaukee is stark in its simplicity: Too many young men with lengthy records of crimes and serious misdemeanors... have too easy access to guns...

If these degenerate little savages have such lengthy records why aren't they behind bars rather than out on the streets flinging bullets everywhere?!?

And this:

The reduction in shared revenue sent to Milwaukee by the state in recent years has made it harder for the city to fund its police.

Yet the mayor is barreling forward with that stupid trolley nonsense that is bound to overrun it's cost estimates, taking even more municipal revenue from more important items, such as a stronger police force.

Mayor Barrett needs to quit casting blame away from his own twisted priorities. Lock those feral animals up, drop your dumb idea for that trolley thing and let the new Bucks owners pay for their own playground!

FWIW, and I don't particularly like Kasich for his priorities, Kasich gained a lot by meeting with the inner city crowd about difficult issues. The dems ran a flawed candidate for governor and almost every district in OH voted for Kasich.

If Walker wants to be president, he has to have those tough meetings and demonstrate an ability to turn them to his advantage and to the advantage of the cities that are being destroyed by all of this.

The black underclass is what it is today thanks to leftist poverty programs from the 60s and white and black leftists that continue to exploit the situation.

Blacks need to realize this and look in the mirror instead of blaming “the white devils”

All Walker needs to do is say I’ll sit down with Barrett as soon as he scraps the downtown trolley and puts the money towards law enforcement.

Barrett never will...it’s what he considers one chance at a legacy as Mayor. If you ignore the fact that crime has exploded under his watch of course

I’ve said it before and I will say it again:

If we could just get guns out of the hands of democrats, there would be no gun violence.

They won’t ask him to join because then it would be a legitimate crime summit, not what Barrett and the Dems in Wisconsin intend it to be. This is your typical lefty political ruse. The Democrats will complain they’re doing everything they can to bring crime rates down and need more money and resources from Madison. Then they will portray Governor Walker as uncaring and the racial element will rear its ugly head. It’s a setup from start to finish.

That’s the same clown. Flynn was caught diddling a married woman a few years ago, and Tire Iron Barrett saved his bacon. He won’t speak out against Milquetoast Barrett.
