Republicans will lose the 2016 presidential election if they nominate an "establishment" GOP candidate, Sen. Ted Cruz told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
In a candid and wide-ranging interview at Newsmax headquarters in Florida, Cruz predicted that a candidate in the mold of a Mitt Romney, John McCain, or Bob Dole will nearly guarantee that Democrat Hillary Clinton wins the White House.
"It will, in effect, be a third term for Barack Obama,&qquot; the Texas Republican said in an exclusive interview with "MidPoint" host Ed Berliner.
Cruz, who in March became the first major Republican to declare his candidacy, said that if he were elected president, he would put an end to the domestic and foreign policies of President Obama, which he termed a "disaster."
Cruz didn't single out any rival GOP hopefuls, but named the last three Republican general-election losers: Romney, McCain, and Dole, as examples of how to sideline millions of conservative voters who feel ignored.
"... all three are good, honorable, decent men. They're heroes, but what they did didn't work. And if we do it again, the same voters who stayed home in '08 and '12 will stay home in '16 and Hillary Clinton will be the next president," said Cruz.
This wasn't the first time Cruz used that cautionary trio in his presidential pitch.
In March, before he declared his intention to run, he said, "All of those are good men, those are decent men — but when you don’t stand and draw a clear distinction, when you don’t stand for principle, Democrats celebrate."

He’s right.
Is he setting himself up as a third party candidate in event he is not nominee?
I won't do that for any other republican politician, so the GOP-E can forget my vote if Cruz isn't the nominee.

Of course!
Romney lost with Obama having worse than Jimmy Carter economic numbers.
More than twice. Most recent is with a do-gooder who wouldn’t fight back and a batshit crazy buffoon who should be in a mental institution.
If the circular firing squad can be held off this time around, a better contender can be had than the last two times around. When the pot shots took their toll on the good but not perfect, the mediocre stepped up.
This is how God teaches that His grace is not just nice, but abso-freaking-lutely VITAL to winning.
Let’s not forget Dole. What a joke.
If he runs 3rd party, I’ll vote for him.
I am done with the damn GOP. They are as dangerous as Obama is, and they equal liars.

Woot! Go Ted!
He’s right.
Yeah....I almost mentioned him but I thought he wasn’t crazy or a coward, frankly. He was very, very seriously wounded in WWII and when he decided to run for President he resigned from his Senate position and gave it his all.
In my view, this country largely comprised of people easily influenced by the Grifters Clinton made a horrible mistake - twice in fact, just like with the Magic Negro. But in the end, Bob was an honorable man in the wrong time, I’m afraid.

I certainly hope so. The GOP is not the answer. What would leave anyone to believe that it will suddenly transform itself into a conservative war horse? That is just not going to happen. Look at the do nothing GOP “controlled” congress. We need something to replace the Gutless Old Party.
He’s right.
Ted is absolutely right. The GOPe always talk about “electable” candidates. And their moderate “electable” candidates ALWAYS lose.
The GOPe is banking on Bush, Walker, and Rubio to defeat Ted, even though Ted is the only Republican candidate guaranteed to beat Hillary in a landslide.
When not backstabbed by the GOPe, conservative candidates every time. However, the GOPe would rather attend Hillary’s inauguration than deal with a President Cruz.
You are not alone in this, sir! I've given money to and have been telling everyone I know about Cruz. He has my primary vote, and my vote if he gets the nod for the generals. If it's anyone else in the general, I'll be voting straight 3rd party. Screw the GOP. I'm done with them.
I’ll write in Ted Cruz if I have to. No liberals from either party.
