WASHINGTON — A 17-year-old transgender youth, Leelah Alcorn, stunned her friends and a vast Internet audience in December when she threw herself in front of a tractor-trailer after writing in an online suicide note that religious therapists had tried to convert her back to being a boy.
In response, President Obama this week will call for an end to such psychiatric therapies aimed at “repairing” gay, lesbian and transgender youth, White House officials said. His decision on the sensitive issue is the latest example of his continuing embrace of gay rights.
In a statement to be posted on Wednesday evening alongside a WhiteHouse.gov petition begun in honor of Ms. Alcorn, Mr. Obama will condemn the psychiatric practice, sometimes called “conversion” or “reparative” therapy, which is supported by some socially conservative organizations and religious doctors. The petition has received more than 120,000 signatures in three months.
“We share your concern about its potentially devastating effects on the lives of transgender as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual and queer youth,” the statement, written by Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Mr. Obama, says, according to a copy obtained by The New York Times. “As part of our dedication to protecting America’s youth, this administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.”
In an interview on Wednesday, Ms. Jarrett said Mr. Obama was moved by the story of Ms. Alcorn’s suicide. But she said the problem went far beyond her.
“It was tragic, but I will tell you, unfortunately she has a lot of company,” Ms. Jarrett said. “It’s not the story of one young person. It is the story of countless young people who have been subjected to this.”

It just occurred to me that if being gay is not a choice then how do they explain bisexuals. Aren’t they making a choice of who they want to be with, make or female?
Might be able to lean on states to restrict medical practice in that fashion.
As far as a Federal ban is concerned, no.
And some “gay theorists” posit that all humans are bisexual in capability. So what one actually does becomes quintessentially a choice, or habit. Funny how the theology of sin and the secular theories of choice seem to converge.

What about the ruined lives from homosexuality? What about the tortured souls dealing (silently or not) with the guilt and self-detesting that living with these unnatural same sex attractions has caused?
What about the stories of homosexuals who commit suicide over a relationship gone bad or because they’re so guilty about their lusts that they can’t take it anymore?

Many, many homosexuals were raped as youngsters. Other child victims stay heterosexual but were raped by male predators.
It is reprehensible that society is being cowed into silence at great risk to young children who cannot fight back. The Boy Scouts is the prime target, but summer camps and especially boarding schools, hold great risk for vulnerable children.

I have to be honest, having been an Environmental, Health, and Safety specialist, there’s a lot of stuff out there with warnings that some of these chemicals we expose ourselves to everyday...can affect sex hormones.
The drawback is we know this or that for a developing egg or semen, but we really do not know once the baby is called by God into being...how the rest of the genetic deal falls out.
Or we also do not know how some of these chemicals affect our children vs. fish, frogs, etc.
How much of this gayness is attributable to chemicals vs. the historical norm? We really don’t know.
A pushback against perversion, absolutely. But we do need to be mindful of things that may be environmentally affecting the younger generation.
It is time to maybe ask for folks to show me their gay gene. No genetic flay....no gay.

Yes, they have quite a dilemma on their hands there don't they. If researchers identify the "gay gene," possibly millions of parents will demand prenatal testing and maybe abort the baby that tests positive. Their numbers would dwindle to the vanishing point, and with it their political leverage.
On the other hand, it would be of immeasurable aid to their case that they "are born that way" and so deserving of protection under the law.
Note that the dilemma springs from the essential dishonesty of their position. They are pushing a political agenda under the cover of "civil rights."

It’s hideous, is it not? And no surprise, Obama is leading the charge to nail the doors of help tightly shut. So much for freedom, for allowing any chance for the innocent victims to receive help. God help our country.
