How does the Mormon community react when one Mormon tells lies about another Mormon and brags of the lie's success.
“Reid, Romney, and Beck, are all Temple Mormons, they all are allowed into the Temples and participate in the secrets within, secrets and access which is forbidden to outsiders and regular Mormons, who are not allowed inside the mysterious temples.”
Your statement is not factually accurate. First of all, there is no such thing as a “temple Mormon.” Any Mormon who is deemed “worthy” can get a Temple Recommend from his Bishop and participate in Temple rituals and ceremonies. And by worthy I mean simply that they can tell their Bishop that they pay their tithing on all their income and are morally clean (which I submit should keep Reid from having a Recommend).
“Harry Reid probably knew what Willard’s financial records contained because as Mormons they are required to give copies of their income and tax returns to the Mormon religion so that they can prove they are tithing enough and to continue to get a Mormon temple recommend..”
That is simply not true!
Not so, DJ:
(1) Does BYU usually invite “jack Mormons” to speak at all-student body, all-faculty rallies? (‘Cause guess what? That’s exactly what BYU did in October 2007 – ensuring Reid spoke to over 4,000 on campus. Here’s the FReeper story on that Reid gets warm reception at BYU
From the above linked article, written by the Lds church owned Deseret News: At the end of his speech, Reid earned a standing ovation from a small percentage of the crowd and applause from the rest.
Tell us, DJ, do BYU students & faculty usually applaud ALL “jack Mormons” like that?

Well, there ya go, DJ. Are you being contentious against Sen. Hatch by calling him a liar – or mistaken – re: his eval of Reid? In fact, you use your own “infallible” line of reasoning, can you prove that Harry Reid is an untrue Mormon, or merely believe it so?
(3) I mean, come on DJ, the Salt Lake Trib article also mentioned how ”Today, Reid, with his security escort in tow, likely will be making his home teaching rounds after his ward's three-hour service. Anyone who questions his Mormon credentials should see that, says Jim Vlock, his home-teaching companion
There ya go, DJ – yet another Mormon “testimonial” about Reid that claims he is a bonifide Mormon. (Of course, we all know how mistaken those Mormon testimonials are all the time about another Mormon leader – a Mr. Joseph Smith – so I guess Mr. Vlock can be wrong just like all the other Mormon testimonials, eh?)

Get real, my statement is absolutely factually correct, you say there is no such thing as a temple Mormon, and then describe how one becomes one, just like I said.
Typical Mormon lying, you say they don’t exist, and then say what I said, they are vetted by their Bishop and Stake president to see if they are devout enough, “worthy”, and if they are, then they are allowed to be Temple Mormons and they must then resubmit to that investigation every two years.
Harry Reid is a Temple Mormon.

Hornet 22- I have similar horror stories about these kinds of disgraceful actions on the part of “the Mormon Lay Leadership.” Some of these useful idiots who are “called” to be “leaders,” let it go to their head. My wife’s father ( who was not Mormon but worked for a group of them) was fired from his job on trumped up charges of “business mismanagement” because the employer group needed financing and got it from the church on the condition that they replace my FiL with a Mormon.
Mormons do “discriminate” as do most other religions. Seems as though the route to get “your religion greater recognition,” is to denigrate all others. As I see it, the televangelists are probably the most honest in that they make no pretense about it being a “business” and being all about the money involved.
I mean didn’t some Black “TV minister” ask his “flock” for millions of dollars the other day because his private jet needed replacement?
I thought when a new temple is built they allow anyone to go inside for the first month or so.
They CAN be required to show proof that they are turning in at least 10% of their income if the church leaders have doubts.
This Mormon source describes what drove Bo Gritzs to leave the religion.

As far as I know they have a visiting period where lesser Mormons and non-Mormons can visit the Temples before they are completed.
I assume that would include construction specialties that the religion may lack in that area, and city inspectors, and deliveries during construction, all things that take place before the Temple is made official.

As post #43 shows, it's not simply that the Mormon church hasn't excommunicated Reid.
You mention Pelosi, but imagine the Roman Catholic church making her a "visiting home teacher" about the Catholic church. (That's more tantamount to what the Mormon church does in sanctioning Reid)
And, of course, as mentioned, BYU invited Reid to speak. Imagine a Roman Catholic inviting a rabid pro-abortion liberal pol to speak on campus...oh, wait...Notre Dame did do that with inviting Obama on campus, didn't it?
Well, in both cases you've got the powers that be going beyond simply not excommunicating a pol.
What you have is open and specific sanction. That's a bridge too far -- and one I don't see you acknowledging.

The Mormon of the Year designation is a recognition of the effect that the person or group of persons recognized has had during the past year. It is not a prize or award, so nothing of value is being given to anyone as a result of this designation, and it is not necessarily meant to honor the person or persons recognized, so no effort will be made to contact or notify Reid.
Uh yeah, "a Temple recommend" which in short hand is a "Temple Mormon", of course all it takes to be a Temple Mormon and be in the temple, is to be a Temple Mormon. That is what I said.

The people in Gadianton Harry’s ward can do something if he is called to do a job other than home teaching. The name is put before the congregation for a sustaining vote, which is usually unanimous. They then ask for those who oppose to raise their hand. The bishop will then probably pull those people aside to discuss their opposition to the person being in that job.
I suspect that if enough people take issue, he would most likely be precluded from holding a position. But the final power is in the hands of his bishop and then his stake president. His bishop is the main guy tho.
Maybe that’s where he got a black eye?...............

I am not quite sure what you think I am failing to acknowledge? To my knowledge, the Catholic church employs no lay clergy. So I don’t see where Nancy Pelosi could ( should she so desire ) to have any role of that sort. Both she and Reid should have been excommunicated long, long ago for making public statements and taking actions that are in complete opposition to their respective church’s teachings. But here we are with the so-called “church leadership” hiding under their pulpits, afraid to do what their dogma requires of them. BTW, when Reid spoke at BYU, I called them to express my displeasure. They not so nicely told me to FO! Churches want to curry favor with politicians, so the allow these miscreants to flaunt church teachings whereas you or I would be gone in a heartbeat,
I have family in Nevada. Nevada was originally settled by the Mormons and there are a ton of them there. Las Vegas itself was originally a Mormon Settlement when the Mormons had this grand plan for The State of Deseret which would have encompassed half again as much territory as they got when Utah became a state. Also, FWIW, Reid had his college education paid for by the Mormon Church.
There’s also the matter of paying tithe and assessments. If you don’t tithe you don’t get in the temple.
