“I’m wondering about Pence’s chances for a second term as Governor of Indiana? He’s had two major controversies and backpedals just in 2015. He had to publicly kill the ill-conceived “state news site” a couple months ago, and now he’s stumbled in defending the RFRA law in Indiana.”

He has shown himself to be not of the right stuff. He got his opportunity, he blew it. Oh well. Next.

“Fortunately for Pence, the GOP has taken over state elected offices so extensively the dems don’t have any really viable candidates at the state level. That might be the only thing that saves Pence in ‘16.”

He probably needs to be primaried. The worm turns eventually and it would be better for him to lose to a comservative than to a leftist.

Thanks for the link. This says that the Indiana RFRA is different in that it goes farther by protecting corporations.

The article then goes on to say, "But Indiana could easily solve this controversy by amending the law to provide that no one can discriminate against others based on sexual orientation, sex or race under the statute or on the grounds of religious beliefs."

Right....

People have hated Pence before this. They hate him because he is Christian and Republican.

I think he means well but is just not very smart. Ironic that Dan Quayle was just on a news clip saying Pence didn't have a clue that the religious freedom bill would have such repercussions and now it's a firestorm.

I think Pence should have gone on the national shows and simply said in this country the first amendment guarantees the right to freedom of religion. Marriage is a religious event for a lot of people. Those people are free to have their religious views in this country. And, the government cannot compel people to act against their religious beliefs.

That is the position he should have taken, and he should have repeated it over and over and over.

the way to solve this... every business should accept any customer, from all walks of life... BUT, the business should make it publicly known that any profits from work they provide to select individuals or groups will be donated to political action committees that rally for the business’ beliefs.

In other words, take the business and money from the gay/lesbian customer, but let them know the profits will go to groups in support of the defense of marriage.

The problem will take care of itself.

You have a good point, and I like it.

I have a business of my own and haven't run into that problem as yet, but that would differently take care of any future problems....

“he should have turned the tables on them. This law is to protect people from being forced to commit acts or participate in events they find morally objectionable.”

That’s the crux of the issue. And by waffling Pence failed to come to the defense of the targets of the Gaystapo.

The GOP establishment wants to have it both ways. They want social conservative Christian votes but they also want to be on good terms with sodomy culture. Not a surprise considering how comfortable the GOPe has been with the likes of David Dreier in leadership.
