Richard Viguerie: Cruz Candidacy Has Conservatives 'On Fire With Excitement'
Newsmax ^ | 26 Mar 2015 | Courtney Coren

Posted on 03/26/2015 11:20:07 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Conservative activist Richard Viguerie tells Newsmax TV that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz stands out as a conservative candidate for president in 2016 because he's "the whole package."

"He's running as the first top tier principled constitutional conservative since Ronald Reagan," Viguerie, the chairman of ConservativeHQ, told J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan on "America's Forum" on Thursday.
Compared to other potential Republican candidates for president in 2016, such as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Viguerie contends that "Ted Cruz is more of the whole package."

"Mike Huckabee has never, to the best of my knowledge, gone outside of the social issue arena," he explained. "He's very strong in that area, but he's made very little attempt that I can see to become a traditional Ronald Reagan conservative that unites what used to be three legs of the conservative movement."

He says that Huckabee is "kind of a one base candidate. Ted Cruz has got all four bases out there covered."

According to the chairman of ConservativeHQ, "we've had some good conservatives running for president, but quite frankly they weren't going to be nominated, they weren't going to be elected president, and the conservative movement is on fire with excitement because we finally got a top tier conservative candidate."

"Maybe there'll be others that will join, but right now, Ted Cruz has a base — the conservative movement — and nobody has united Ronald Reagan's three legs of the stool: social issues, economic issues, and foreign policy in the way that Ted Cruz has," he said.

Half of US Citizen Latinos? Are you sure about that? I hope you’re right.

"Ted Cruz has got all four bases out there covered."

Cruz will go a long way to uniting all tea parties, he will attract a lot of Hispanics, he will attract Reagan Democrats, a vast majority of Conservatives, he will succeed with Independents, and win a large majority of Republicans, and a large number of Evangelicals.

He will suffer among the foodstamp/welfare crowd, a very large and growing segment.

He got 40% last time he ran for office.

US Citizen Latino voters are distrustful of the Republican Party and will vote for a democrat overwhelmingly UNLESS there is also a Latino on the opposing ticket. Then they tend to drift over sometimes significantly to the opposition to the democrats. For example, Governor Martinez of NM.

So Latinos tend to vote Latino first.

For those that understand the Latino culture, then you understand that to do anything against the culture requires an ‘excuse’. If Hillary is on the ticket and Raphael ‘Ted’ Cruz is on the ticket, there’s all the excuse that is needed.

SEIU will boost Latinos and illegals to vote Hillary or whoever is on the democrat ticket. But voting against a fellow Latino in favor of an insipid Hillary like candidate will leave Latinos staying home; demoralized by democrat promises never kept. Latinos that are not in the SEIU culture will vote for Ted Cruz. Suppressed turnout for Hillary leaves a larger percentage voting for Cruz.

These observations are backed up by recent facts on the gournd such as the mammoth fight over Executive Amnesty and the recent push by Obama to ‘force’ voter registration. Keep in mind if one is registered to vote, then it is public record if that registered voter has voted or not.

I doubt you’ll ever hear Sen. Cruz going out of his way to speak Spanish in a mainstream forum (maybe on Spanish radio ads).

Sen. Cruz goes out of his way not to run as a minority candidate. He might be able to play that for votes, but that crosses his line. The media doesn’t want to give him an advantage either, so they won’t mention it.

Mentioned or not, If he’s the nominee, there’ll be a segment of voters turning out to vote for the “first Hispanic Presidential nominee”. That will bump his numbers in the Hispanic vote. Once you get to the general election, things like “he’s like me” matter as much as ideology.

This is why the media dare not focus on his race. And he won’t either, out of principle. But. It’s impossible to hide, and it will affect the outcome.

Yes but not so much as to boost Independent voter registrations among the entire electorate from 24% in 2012 to 42% in 2014. What caused that historical shift is a mass of new voter registrations of people that hadn’t voted in a long time or never at all. Suddenly they became concerned enough to get in the game. Only the GOPe has let them down. But they will vote for Cruz because he stands up against the GOPe.

It’s important to understand that Ted Cruz is seen as an independent type of republican. In fact Ted Cruz could win as an Independent.

Ted Cruz is right on target. He knows a great swath of the American population that is eligible to vote are sitting home disgusted and demoralized. His ‘Imagine’ speech (a fantastic speech) aimed squarely at rekindling enthusiasm among Christians who have sat out of elections by the millions in the last decade.

Many American conservative voters turned out in the last election but they were not so much republican as they were registered independents.

Well said, your entire comment was right on, among his many leadership abilities Cruz is a most apt strategist, and principle is indeed his political guide, unlike others who suddenly change their mind because is it politically expedient, when it comes to principles Cruz is consistent and unmovable.

My mother told me to never play with matches.

However, I am excited to strike the Match of Liberty.

Ted Cruz will help light our way through the darkened night of the obamanation that is destroying America!

...of all I know about Cruz I don’t know if he speaks Spanish, I’ve always just assumed he does.
****************************************
Like many of us Texans, he has stated that he is not very good at conversational Spanish but only knows some phrases and words.

I think you are correct in your assessment of a Latino drawing the Latino vote. I’ve said for sometime that the GOP must stop nominating crusty, old, white farts. Thanks for your analysis.
