EXCLUSIVE-MICHELLE MALKIN: SCOTT WALKER DESERVES TO BE VETTED MUCH BIGGER THAN OUSTED PRO-AMNESTY AI

Full Title: EXCLUSIVE — MICHELLE MALKIN: SCOTT WALKER DESERVES TO BE VETTED, ‘PROBLEMS’ MUCH BIGGER THAN OUSTED PRO-AMNESTY AIDE

Nationally syndicated conservative columnist Michelle Malkin, founder of the website Twitchy, tells Breitbart News that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker—a potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate—needs to be vetted. She also says Walker’s “problems” run much deeper than the decision to hire—then quickly let go of—pro-amnesty communications aide Liz Mair, who had taken shots at Iowa.

“Scott Walker has much bigger problems than the ill-considered hiring and firing of one D.C. operative,” Malkin said in an email.

What does he really stand for and is he fully equipped to bear the slings and arrows of his enemies on a national and global scale? Yes, he fought Big Labor and has managed his state well. But grass-roots activists in his state have long been warning me of his ideological gymnastics on core issues: immigration and education.

He has been on the same side as the progressive Left and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Right: pro-amnesty, pro-massive legal immigration expansionist, and pro-Common Core. He’s been left, right, center, and all over the map.

She added that Washington-based GOP establishment forces are good at backing up establishment politicians, as they seemed to have tried to do to defend Walker and Mair.

“The D.C. consultant class and Capitol Hill GOP operators are adept at swooping in to ‘rescue’ the campaigns of neophytes and molding them into Beltway barnacle tools,” Malkin said. “They did it with Spencer Abraham and Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan. Face it: Many of the D.C. messaging ‘experts’ and ‘communicators’ DO have their own policy agenda and it is naive or stupid to believe they have no sway or influence on ambitious, outside the Beltway seekers of higher public office with no fixed principles.”

I’m with Michelle Malkin. Walker is problematic. He has not been vetted. I am not high on the guy at all. He feels like another GOPe candidate to me.

FR is trying to coronate him. Two months ago Freepers were all about Ted Cruz. Now its like he does not exist.

Lets face it Walker is about as charismatic as a flea circus.

Does ANYONE really think Walker is scared of a little "vetting"? Hell, he won 3 elections in 4 years with ALL guns pointed at him. Not only did he win, he progressively got stronger.

Why? Because he is resolute in what he believes. Does he have a perfectly defined position on EVERY issue? Nope. Will it matter? Nope.

Let's not forget, Many, if not most of the GOP darlings - Dana Loesch, Malkin, others (especially affiliated with Breitbart) were formal liberals who are not firmly part of the establishment.

Walker isn't scared of "vetting" and we shouldn't be either. Perhaps Michelle, you should consider yourself as living in glass house, rather than a castle on a hill. Michelle, have you been vetted? Who do you contribute to in this election? Who are you talking to behind the scenes? Twitchy? You've taken runs at strong conservatives. Yup...EVERYONE, including Michelle Malkin, should be vetted.

And he needs to realize the rest of the country may not know him as well as Wisconsin does

Are you kidding? The way Walker kicked union ass in 2011 immediately made him a star. He got tons of media coverage, and it even influenced other Midwestern states to do the same.

Vetting is fine by me. I remain wary of Walker. Part of it is indeed the overarching distrust I now maintain towards the GOP as a whole. The other part is Walker’s wobbliness on amnesty, as well as the way he so quickly threw in the towel on homo-marriage. The two issues that determine my vote more than anything else, by miles, and I’m underwhelmed by him.

I’ve been burned way, way too often by the GOP, from Bush’s 2007 push for amnesty, to the backstabbing of Palin, to the Mississippi travesty, to Boehner/McConnell’s sellouts. And in particular, I keep remembering how Paul Ryan was being touted in all quarters as the great conservative counterweight on the 2012 ticket, only to find out what a bald-faced lie it was. If Walker’s brand of “conservatism” is nothing more than being a Ryan-esque water-carrier for Chamber of Commerce type corruptocrats, he will not get my vote. The jury is still out for me, but I certainly don’t share the enthusiasm that a lot of fellow FReepers have for Walker.

Oh, I disagree about Walker. I like him quite a bit, and I think he comes across pretty well on camera.

As far as vetting goes... by all means, go forth with that, but I'd think that if every liberal slimegroup in the country couldn't dig up anything during his run of elections, he's probably pretty safe.

As far as positions go, I'm not a purist. I'm not even concerned that someone "evolves" on their positions. Don't we all, when we're presented with new evidence and come to see we were mistaken?

I've never been a huge fan of Cruz, so while many may have been or are currently enamored, that's not universal. Of course, if he gets the nomination, I'll vote for him.

Good post. I’m a little taken aback by Malkin’s seemingly angry piece.

How funny....Cruz is second to Walker in exposure and Cruz supporters always come to the Walker thread and try to take over. If you feel that Cruz isn’t getting enough attention then post some Cruz articles. You can dictate what Cruz articles are posted here. Walker is just has more results so naturally he has more articles written by him. Walker has been in Government a lot longer then Cruz who is in his second year of a first term.

Seriously, you naive Wisconsonites just want to hold hands and sing Kumbayah with the liberals because you don't think anyone should yell when discussing politics and it's a shame that republican policies anger so many liberals. So you work harder to appease them. It's a shame.

LOL. That's SO not what's happening here.

Look, I love Malkin to death, but when the general election rolls around, you're going to need that GOP machine. I'm not talking about the elitists or the Chamber of Communist whores. I'm talking about the party structure, the organization itself.

The beauty of Walker is that he's popular with BOTH the Tea Party base and the GOP establishment. Also, he's a Rust Belt Republican, who can re-create Reagan's stool (no pun intended) AND appeal to libertarians and blue-collar Dims and deliver a landslide victory.

I don't have a problem with Walker being vetted in the traditional sense, but what's going on here is a Salem witch trial. You don't win 3 elections in 4 years by being unknown and a RINO. Malkin and others who are searching for a pure as the driven snow Republican are just going to fracture the coalition in anger and frustration and then Jeb will be the sacrificial lamb to Hillary.

Malkin was the only one to call out RINO Ducey (AZ)(who Walker, Palin and Cruz endorsed).

Imagine if the only choices were Jeb, Christie and Mitt.2 ?

That’s a horrible thought.

Bush and the other RINOs must be taken out in the primaries.

What is Malkin worried about? She doesn’t think that the MSM will vet Walker up the yin-yang? If he stuck a piece of bubble gum on the bottom of his desk in the fifth grade, we’ll hear about it.

FR is trying to coronate him.

Oh come on. Why does support for a candidate has to degenerate into "trolling" for him or being a "bot?"
