Rush Limbaugh: If Obama Sought Third Term, Would Anyone Stop Him?
newsbusters.org,blogs ^ | March 9 2015 | Jack Coleman

The listener's question -- even though the 22nd Amendment prevents President Obama from seeking a third term, what if he decided to remain in office after January 2017? [Rush]

Let's put this in a scenario, because some of you might be thinking, all right, Rush, now this is, we're going too far now. I mean, now all you guys thinking Obama's doing this and that and he's violating the Constitution, but he would never -- well, let's construct a scenario and see if it has even the slightest bit of believability. And let's establish some things that we know to be true that Obama also knows and chief among those is that the Republican Party has said that impeachment is off the table, and more than once they've said this. The Republican Party has made it clear that they will not use that constitutional measure as a means of reining Obama in and maybe even getting him out of office.

They have also made it very clear in just the most recent vote on the funding for Department of Homeland Security that they will not use the power of the purse to stop Obama. OK, so those two realities equal Obama fully aware the Republican Party will take no steps to stop him in his ongoing violations, and running up to the edges, of the Constitution.

Like when Obama ran for President even though he’s not eligible?

Yes, there is something to stop Obama from a third term... the most powerful document in the history of the world.

The same document that stops Americans from selling black citizens as slaves.

Same document that gives women the right to vote.

Same document that gives those of us on FreeRepublic the right to speak politically without fear of being jailed.

Article II Sec.1 of that same document says he can’t be President, yet everyone let him be sworn in anyway.

Running for a third term’s NOT an open debate.

What Americans will go fight to the death in the streets to make the constitution prevail? The generals and admirals and colonels and captains that might are no longer in the military. They have been pastured

The lawyers have perverted the constitutional process to the point it will not prevail absent blood in the streets.

There is no constitutional law at present

You are correct that more people understand the 22nd Amendment than understand Art II Sec.1.

If he decides to, who would stop him?

I don’t think he’ll try it. I think he’ll assure himself a like-minded successor by knocking Hillary out (in progress)and the GOP will do their part by nominating an amnesty supporting designated loser.

Most likely the DNC would put an end to it.

The DNC is very much like a mob operation.

There are a number of active duty, reserve and national guard generals, admirals, colonels, captains, commanders, lieutenants, chiefs, gunny’s, sergeants and corporals—in fact, probably the VAST majority—who swore an oath—not to the president, but to the US Constitution.

The Constitution strictly and succinctly bans a president from serving more than two full terms.

Those still loyal to the Constitution would see to it that it is obeyed, or there will be bloodshed like we’ve never seen before.

Obama would lose.

And frankly, I hope he DOES tries it. It would be the dumbest thing he’s ever done, and the equivalent of “Hold my beer and watch this!”

It's up to each state's SoS to include Obama on the state's ballot. What is Obama going to do if one or more states choose to follow the Constitution and deny him ballot access?

That's where the fight will be. There is no national presidential election, only a series of individual and independent state elections.

No. The vast majority still honor their duty to the Constitution. Sure Obama's gotten rid of some and there is NEVER an end to self-aggrandizing among certain officers, but they dedication is mostly centered around their own self preservation and promotion. Their butt-kissing schemes are not worth losing their lives. They will scatter when real men (who still dominate our military--thank God!) say HELL NO!

AMERICA'S MILITARY: A conservative institution's uneasy cultural evolution

According to a Military Times survey of almost 2,300 active-duty service members, Obama's popularity — never high to begin with — has crumbled, falling from 35 percent in 2009 to just 15 percent this year, while his disapproval ratings have increased to 55 percent from 40 percent over that time.

Do you think he'd risk his own arrest over 15% support?

The black caucus would stand with Obama - well some of them... Obama wouldn't even get all of them. Lots of blacks are Americans first and blacks second.

Blacks defended this country in every war we've had - up to and including the American Revolution. I don't think they're going to swoon over a dictator just because he's black. Look at Africa - lots of black thuggy dictators... American blacks aren't flooding the airports attempting to move to Africa.

They know the value of freedom.

Almost everyone - democrats and Republicans and Independents would stand against Obama if he attempted to force a dictatorship on a free country. Conservatives aren't the only people vested in the concept of living in a free country.

And yeah, George Soros can buy a lot of two bit political whores for $19 bucks an hour... and yeah they know the tricks - tricks to make 6 people look like a mob - tricks of drum circles - but it's smoke and mirrors. And they're a load of shit...

If an attempt were made we could arrest all involved. Our military could take George Soros' little whores out and shoot them for treason - - while the rest of us stand and cheer.

Right - and Republicans will lose the midterms if they’re not smart enough to back amnesty - or avoid a shutdown - or any other stupid future projections.

We’re doing just fine - and will continue to do just fine.
