Rush Limbaugh, whos been a fixture on WLS AM 890 for more than 25 years, is about to get the bums rush from the Cumulus Media news/talk station, sources said Wednesday. If all goes as planned, Limbaughs syndicated talk show, which airs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, will be dropped by the end of March, according to insiders at WLS.
A Cumulus Media spokeswoman declined immediate comment. But a source familiar with the decision said it was based on the shows diminished ratings and failure to generate advertising revenue for the station, adding: Its impossible to sell.
Let’s not forget Dick Bionde (?SP?), a true leader in the field of Payola.
What is croaking vocal fry?
And you have inside information that they haven’t already had discussions with Rush?
WLS might replace Rush with a new Westwood One syndicated show hosted by Jonathan Brandmeier...who is replacing Dennis Miller after 3/27
>>WLS revenues fell 27.5% from 2013 to 2014, FEDER reports, and the station’s lineup was overhauled with the additions of BIG JOHN HOWELL for mornings and STEVE DAHL for afternoons, the announcement of JONATHON BRANDMEIER’s new syndicated midday show, and the departure of BRUCE WOLF, DAN PROFT, ROE CONN, RICHARD ROEPER, JOHN KASS, and LAUREN COHN. Market Manager DONNA BAKER also left, replaced by PETER BOWEN.

go away old man
Rush has become a bit tedious the last couple of years.
Three hours devoted to the inflation pressure of footballs? Please!
Railing about events we already know about? Any fool can do that.
Personally, I listen to get ideas about what I can do to push back, but that sort of thing has been thin lately.
I’m finding it easier and easier to turn-off the radio between Noon and 3:00 PM to get other things done.
Here in Detroit Hannity was on WJR for two hours till he switched to Clear Channel maybe 2 years ago. Savage was picked up to fill the two hour time slot and bragged how he became the #1 show here in S.E. Michigan.
What he conveniently left out was the fact that the Patriot network, which owns both an AM and FM station in this area, picked up Hannity for a full 3 hour slot.....LOL!
Post #47 was in reply to both of you, I think.
Really? Who is doing better?
Maybe it was post #46.
It’s climbing the thread with a bullet!
Right on!
yes, there are problems, I just don’t think any of the hearing related problems are still there.
As to content - if you are expecting 3 hours a day of hard news and analysis and “content” - without understanding the purpose of the show - you’re missing the boat a little bit. He keeps the chicken crossing the road interesting with new analogies and new ways of looking at it all the time - as opposed to say Hannity, who just bludgeons listeners with the same formulaic talking point script day and night, day and night.
All your points about the show are well taken.
BUT — Your comment about “running for office” or “appearing at CPAC” - really? Is that all you got?
As good as he is, he suffers from the career killer: He believes his own hype. When he was new to the game, he went through a lot of content in the show. It was funny, irreverent, topical. Now you can only count on a few topics. Rather weird considering there is so much content with this president.
If they’re losing revenues it’s due to an inadequate AD department, not lack of Rush listeners.......
Clear Channel now known as iHeart and I believe they have:
Chicago
WGRB-AM Gospel
WGCI-FM R&B / Hip Hop
WKSC-FM CHR/Top 40
WLIT-FM Hot AC
WEBG-FM Country
WVAZ-FM R&B
...but maybe Salem Media’s WIND 560 will..
Rather than Hannity, might as well broadcast old cassette tapes of Alexander Scourby reading the KJV Holy Bible. Might learn something, anyway.
