WLS (Chicago) ready to drop Rush Limbaugh
robertfeder.com ^ | 3/5/15 | Robert Feder

Rush Limbaugh, who’s been a fixture on WLS AM 890 for more than 25 years, is about to get the bum’s rush from the Cumulus Media news/talk station, sources said Wednesday. If all goes as planned, Limbaugh’s syndicated talk show, which airs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, will be dropped by the end of March, according to insiders at WLS.

A Cumulus Media spokeswoman declined immediate comment. But a source familiar with the decision said it was based on the show’s diminished ratings and failure to generate advertising revenue for the station, adding: “It’s impossible to sell.”

The show just stopped defining the debate as much as it had when I was a kid because people were shifting to new outlets. AM radio does not have the draw that it once did and that is why the left is dominating the debate while people are still turning to an AM radio show that is diminishing in its influence every year.

Not that Rush isnt a player, he just isnt the single big player anymore. That’s just fact.

First, Rush is on far more FM stations now than AM. Perhaps you haven't listened in a long time. Second, there are more players now, MANY of whom Rush helped launch. Some of their influence accrues to him. Levin and Hannity included. He's helped elevate Steyn too, and helped many internet sites. Third, the 2.5 hours a day thing is fatuous. That's only a tiny percentage of any talk show audience.

The ongoing, sustained, Leftist war on his advertisers is taking its toll. That 60 Minutes hit piece on Lumber Liquidators did not occur in a vacuum.

Hadn't made a connection until you posted this.

(Deliberately have not watched a 60 Minutes in decades.)

Then why are you listening ..?? If I found a program so offensive as you seem to be claiming .. I WOULD NOT BE LISTENING.

Phony complaints about a program you never listen to is just STUPID AND JUVENILE.

First, it's really sad that phony conservatives like yourself
Gee, it only took 1 reply for you to run out of ammo and start the name calling. How liberal of you. In fact, your entire post is sophistry filled BS.
"Certain people" are doing more than politicians? Really? FYI - in the last 20 years we've lost our southern border; Roe V Wade is still law; welfare has exploded; political correctness has become the "unoffical" law of the land; we got socialized medicine; the national debt has almost tripled, etc., etc. etc.
Good thing those "certain people" are on our side. LOL ...

I was making a point, sorry it whizzed over your head.

The point is this: the notion that elected office is the only, or even the highest way to serve us IS INDEED A LIBERAL THOUGHT PROCESS.

Sorry dude, It just is. Learn it, live it, love it.

All those things you mention don’t change a damned thing about the truth of what I wrote above. STRAW DUDE STRAW

It’s not a personal attack, it’s an accurate deconstruction of your fatuous argument - the absurd AND LIBERAL notion that serving as an elected official is the only way to “put your money where your mouth is.”

I am sorry you are not intellectually capable of processing that. And no, that’s not an attack either, that’s simply another on the money description. You are just wrong about that, period. You just are.

And DU troll? You demonstrate your sheer ignorance on that one. BTW, THATS what a personal attack looks like. It’s also what a lie looks like.

I am done with you.

I pop my ear pods in, plug into the iPhone and dial up Rush on any number of Internet stations. I can be out and about running errands, or knocking off another chore from the honey do list, and I’m listing to him Dana and the Chicks on the Right and anyone else who suits my fancy. AM radio is so 20th century.

Yup. That’s me. Screaming liberal because I listen to my own music as opposed to talk radio. (or any radio at all, except the local Christian station when I have to)

Good catch. I’ve definitely been outed by your superior logic.

Robert Feder now reports Cumulus
is denying they have plans to
dump Rush, but Feder is known
for accuracy. Maybe they could
delay-broadcast him which is rare.
It has been said ratings for Rush
were bad and also as part of the
Stop Rush movement there was a
“do not sell” list..sponsors pressured
to not buy airtime

How on earth could Rush Limbaugh be impossible to sell?

Locally here in Indiana his show has some pretty lame sponsors compared to years ago. Like the Huckabee weight loss / diabetes stuff.

Of course it is not impossible to sell. An advertiser generally does not buy a particular radio show locally anyway. Radio stations bundle packages.

Yes, I think you can buy time on the EIB network. That’s not buying from local stations.

With a syndicated show, a certain percent of ads are network and a certain percent local.

Oh, and Roe Conn is on WGN 720 in the afternoons now. I find him entertaining also.

Roe Conn knows absolutely nothing about anything and can speak about it ad infinitum with the full authority of those who dwell among the gods
