As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is putting the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabela’s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

First, I am one of very few who can say have been ZOTed and UnZOTed! Its kinda like being dead then undead, but whatever. Im not asking for ZOTing to happen, but pointing out the hijacking is legitimate, because it goes to show the vitriol NOT of those rabid, purist Conservatives, but of the nastiness of the Romney-bots who thought they were going to get several extra wives too.
Second, the winning strategy is to make the Star Chamber/Bilderberg Group/NWO who the heck ever is in charge of the power in the GOP that we only want a Republican that will obey the Constitution and perform the Party Platform as it is written in our conventions each election cycle. By consistently saying NO to Liberal RINOs, they will have to make a choice to leave the party, kill the party, or give us what we want. Wait one minute! That sounds almost exactly and entirely like Representation in a Democratic Republic! You mean to tell me that the Conservative, anti-RINO philosophy is actually just what our Founders intended and that they NEVER intended someone to vote for the lessor of two evils? You mean that Conservatives are NOT myopically obsessed with winning only one election and then hoping for the best? You mean to tell me we put in a mixed group of Republicans in Congress and absolutely no one as the balls to stand up to the President when they hold one freaking third of the Govt?

Was the first Bush a RINO? He talked about a New World Order. How about W? Many of us would look at his border policies and “compassionate conservativism” as being RINO like. He didn’t close the border. He didn’t shut down the Dept. of Education. He didn’t slow down the welfare state. On his watch, the debt skyrocketed. He brought in large numbers of Islamic “refugees.” He didn’t find a way to stop unqualified people from getting loans that led to the real estate collapse. He didn’t stop abortion. He didn’t fight the gay mafia. In many ways, he was indeed a RINO.
Here is the sad truth. If we were to find a candidate who believed in all of the policies in which most of us believe — a true conservative — that person is unelectable. Our country has changed since the man I most admire went back to his ranch to live out his years. The left is in control of this country. It begins in kindergarten and goes through college. There is total control by the left in all the social science departments across the country. They control the message in the media. When a majority of people are getting government benefits, they are not going to give them up. We are past the tipping point.
Using the term “Romney-bot” is totally intellectually dishonest. I didn’t want him to win the nomination. I don’t think there are a handful of people here who are Romney-bots. But what many of us saw, without being clairvoyant, was the danger of giving Barack Hussein Obama, four more years. We are watching it unfold. He is unique in our history. He is a man who grew up as a Muslim in a foreign country and hating America. He is not bound by the Constitution. He is truly above the law. Nixonian has been replaced by Obamination.
We are, indeed, on the same side. I am not smearing conservatives. I am as conservative as anyone, being weaned in my teenage years on None Dare Call it Treason, Masters of Deceit, God and Man at Yale, The Conscience of a Conservative, Why Not Victory, McCarthy and his Enemies, etc. Oh, and of course, the Declaration of Independence and United States Constitution.
Stand up for your principles. That is certainly a noble trait. I respect someone who could not vote for Romney, but my call is that such was an unwise decision. The clear and present danger of Obama is playing out before our eyes. As I said previously, I would rather be fighting Romney right now than Obama. With all his faults and wrongheaded policies, at least he really does love this country. The Muslim communist’s goal was always to destroy it. He told us he was going to radically transform his country. The country he loathes and wanted to punish. I believed him. If you did not believe his clear and present danger of having four more years, we will just have to respectfully disagree.
On a final note, RINO is properly capitalized. But using capitals in responding to generally thoughtful and intelligent FReepers is condescending. Write with clarity and capitals are not necessary.
I wish it were so, but do you actually believe that a 3rd party could get 24-36 house seats and 4-8 senate seats? Respectfully, that is amazingly naive.
Doug, we part ways on this one issue: a Conservative CAN win! You are SO wrong about this. A true, actual Conservative that believes like us CAN absolutely win the nomination and the General Election. This country is NOT Leftist. You and I are being manipulated, scammed, and sabotaged. My point is, my dear brother in arms, is that the whole concept of HAVING to vote for these guys is completely absurd, because we DONT have to accept poison or shotgun to the face. We can have what we want, but its going to take some pain. We have to start looking out for our people by doing what they do to ours, shoot them before they get out of the gate.
Jeb is definitely going up on the list, as soon as I get some time. And like I told someone else who asked why Christie was not yet on the RINO List, “You have to be a Republican to be a Republican in Name Only.”
I agree M855 are considered ball ammo by the military. Unfortunately, that is one of the ammo types specifically targeted by this rule change.
Also, a steel core is not a requirement under the current AP definition. It is a projectile OR projectile core. Plus it can be made entirely or in combination from any of the listed alloys (see BATFE definition below). The BATFE reasoning for going after the M855 ammo does not make much sense, which is why this rule change is very suspect.
18 U.S.C., § 921(a)(17)(B)
•A projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or
•A full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile.
Good grief. STOP WRITING IN CAPITALS. I will fight for a true conservative during the nomination process. If our side does not win the fight, I am going to do everything I can to keep Satan’s Daughter from the White House. I will not stay home.
In theory, we can agree that we are not a leftist country. But neither are we a true conservative country, using our definition of true conservative. If you want to see abortion stopped, gay marriage stopped, illegal aliens all deported, welfare for only those who are disabled stopped -— it is not going to happen. A true conservative, both fiscally and socially, is simply not electable today. Can we get 90% of what we want? 80%? 70%? I don’t know.

Dude, they GAVE Tauschers seat up when she was running for the last time before she took that (I forget) appointment a while back. Republicans ran no one, and the Libertarian, who DREW FREAKIN’ 27% OF THE VOTE WITH NO ADVERTISING, was a closet progressive.
That was a FREE SEAT for the taking for a true libertarian or strict constructionist in the district that includes Contra Costa County.
24-36 house seats in particular would be a no brainer if they devoted their money to local stuff instead of tilting at the windmill of a national presidential race. Most of the places that have been or are in the process of legalizing weed are doing so via people who are socially “liberal” but not communists. I believe those places would cough up those seats handily.
Once again, I point out that those two lines you cite are no applicable to M855. In particular, the first one. There is no alloy of the metals you list which “construct entirely” the round. The majority of the rounds mass is lead.
The projectile core is not constructed entirely of steel. Steel is ~15% of mass, and it’s not alloyed or compositionally part of the whole core.
The projectiles jacket is not 25%+ of the mass.
While they may get their way rule wise from bureaucratic inertia, their argument would never stand a legal interpretation of the rule (with competent and uncorrupted judiciary of course).
Heck, you could probably make a real AP round that would pass this definition as non-AP and exceed M855 penetration specs by having a 76% hard lead alloy or bismuth core and 24% jacket of something like titanium or tungsten or chro-moly steel...

When you have folks who argue about who is more conservative than the next person and then complain that all we get are RINO’s, but don’t vote...which gets us Marxists elected, how else is anybody supposed to be?
We’re supposed to be on the same team. Lately all we’re doing is shooting our own and not holding the line on anything the Kenyan or Congress does.
I don’t have the answer to what we should do. Obviously destroying America is en vogue, because otherwise we’d have a better representation of candidates that are true conservatives over what we’ve had in the past years.
Now I read that Boehner & McConnell will do NOTHING to stop amnesty. Maybe there’s a reason for the M855 ban?
I understand what you’re saying and I’m not arguing whether M855 would or would not meet the true definition of AP. I agree that it does not and we both know that it is not AP any more than any other high velocity rifle round. I’m only pointing out that the BATFE disagrees with us and is specifically targeting that ammo in their memo based on their interpretation of AP.
We can argue that M855 is not AP, but the BATFE is attempting to lump M855 ammo into the AP category. Maybe they’re interpreting the combo of alloys, the projectile versus projectile core, or the way they weigh the mass differently than you or I would. I really don’t know, but I do not trust this admin and I don’t know if it would be easily reviewable by the courts.
What I do know is if they succeed in their efforts to restrict M855 under this rule change, then they could easily come after most rifles rounds since they can now be found in handgun platforms too.
Since the exemption is based solely on the discretion of the US AG, the decision to remove the exemption may not be reviewable by the courts either.
