Bundle up! Winter is keeping its icy grip on the Tri-State area as Arctic air continues to plunge the region into a deep freeze --SNIP-- The temperature at Newark Liberty International Airport was 1 degree Friday morning, beating a former record low of 5 degrees. The previous record was set in 1936. Trentons temperature fell to zero around 7:20 a.m. That beats the record low of 6 set in 1936. In sections of the state, wind chills reached 10 to 20 degrees

Lived in Connecticut all my life.
This is cold winter.
listen... warming, cooling, it was 50/50. so i took a shot!!!
Airports are usually colder than a mid town reading in the middle of a huge Urban Heat Island.
For me, 65 is just about perfect. It's 16 here...minus seven last night.
Oh, well...eat another orange for me, will you?
Yet still warmer than the rural area around said urban and or airport .....
I agree with what your saying , just saying even colder in the rural outlying areas......
And another 70 degree sunny day here in Silicon Valley. I read yesterday this is a normal pattern — a static high pressure ridge over the western US coincides with a big static low pressure zone over the midwest and east. In CA, it is causing our drought to continue and there have been few cold days this winter.
LOL So true. Our airport reading is always warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Cold train headed down here in the Texas Panhandle Sunday thru Wednesday ......teens and single digits with high winds....cold for us after a 74 degree day today. Almost over ....trees are budding up.
Stay comfy !
Here in Charleston SC we’re forecast for a 30 degree increase in temperature tomorrow in just a few hours after sunrise.
My place on the Rockies usually sees some lows in the minus-30s in February. Real temperatures—not wind chills. Some Februaries, high temperatures seldom get above zero.
Friend in NYC had the same problem. Said it went away when they let the hot water drip. The hot water pipes unfroze the cold water pipes.
already started. It was 118 degrees F in Australia today.
I just checked my facts. At 5:43AM the temperature was -17 at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, shattering the old record. It's the 4th lowest recorded temperature ever in Cleveland. That location is considered the official temperature. I'm about 7 miles south of downtown, and it bottomed out at -12. Fact is, the people are taking this rather long bout of weather very well.
Once you get the lake frozen, you lose the lake effect snow but also the heat storage tempering effect of the water mass. It’s a mixed blessing and a condition that doesn’t happen too many years.
I remember 76/7/8 as particular nasty when I was living up there.
Enjoy your orange. With western reservoirs at low levels and snowpack far below average, those of us shivering out here in the upper Midwest will enjoy a bit of schadenfreud come August or so, when we hear Governor Moonbeam imposing fines for flushing toilets more than twice a week and prohibiting watering of lawns and bathing more than once a month.
Not sure if this will post correctly, but this was my rooftop view today. I call it, “How to Remove Unsightly Moss From Roof”.

Cleveland Hopkins Airport is way out in the middle of nowhere. You are comparing apples to oranges. Out away from Manhattan's Urban Heat Island, temperatures are much colder too.
As I said, Cleveland's downtown temperature last night was minus 2 not minus 10, and not that much colder than Manhattan's temperature.
