10 truly bizarre Tea Party bills: From nipples to militias to religious zealotry

Here are the 10 most bizarre Tea Party bills currently being debated in the Montana Legislature, which is now controlled by the right wing of the Republican Party. Some of these bills, believe it or not, have a chance of making it to the governor’s desk.

1) Prepare for National Ammunition shortage (SB 122). When Obama comes to get our guns and bullets, Montana will be ready...

2) Establish Armed Militias in Every Town (SB 130). Even if we have enough bullets, Montana could still be in grave danger from the federal government...

3) Require that nipples and areolae be fully concealed; prohibit “simulated genitalia” (HB 365). Our state already has a general law against indecent exposure but Montana’s social conservatives feel it isn’t enough...

4) Montana Legislative Dress Code. A young conservative ascended to speaker of the House this year, and his first order of business was to propose a new dress code...

5) “Encourage Critical Thinking in the Classroom” is the title of HB 321...

6) Allow Concealed Weapons in Bars, Banks, and on Campuses (HB 371, SB 143)...

7) Ban “Foreign or Religious Law” From American Courts (SB 199). The purpose of this law is to prevent Muslims from using Shariah law to co-opt our legal institutions...

8) Return All Federal Lands to State Ownership (LC 1758 et al)...

9) Nullify All Federal Gun Laws (HB 203)...

10) Allow Hunting With Silencers (HB 250)...

I drove through Montana years ago on a cross-country jaunt. Amazing scenery and lovely people. I swear whenever I would fill up my car at a gas station someone would see my NY license plates and start a conversation with me. It’s like I was from Mars.

This country would be far better off, if there was more forward-thinking legislation such as this. It should tend to keep peeps who “excel” at this, out of the state, or at least drive them out. Good for Montana!!

That is true, and I am blessed with extremely acute hearing-a genetic trait in females from my mom’s side, so I was already on alert for even a whisper of noise because I did not know the other hunters on the place-as I said, I’m alive because the fool was a bad shot.

Something like #3 does not appear in a vacuum. There’s a REASON why somebody wants to pass legislation that specific. Somebody did something to provoke it ... and the hipster leftards at ‘salon’ are hiding that back story.

The aureola bit is about strippers. My state has a similar law regarding strippers where alcohol is served. The "simulated genitalia" bit is about those fake bulls balls that some people like to hang on the back of their trucks.

I think prohibiting bulls balls by law is an overreach, but I certainly find them offensive.

You can’t hunt deer with dogs here...

I was wondering if this would apply to the guys that hang simulated scrotums on the backs of their trucks....

That is exactly what I think it's about. That, and probably the publicly exhibition of dildos and such.

I’m sure you are right-I know I was lucky-but I’m still not hunting with them...

What is your opinion on bow hunting?

The Tea Party, as a distilled form of conservatism, is to the Left what the Jews were to Nazis. And that analogy is disturbingly apt on both sides of the equation.

Thanks.

I’ll not comment on the strippers ... except that I don’t patronize strip joints at all.

As for the bull-balls ... offensive, but useful. They’re a way for complete a-holes to self identify.

I’ll be honest, I don’t really have one.

My boss bow hunts, but I do not-I’m just not good with a bow. He and the other bow hunters I know are all very, very experienced hunters-mostly veterans, by the way. Bow hunting has its own season-no guns. Property owners are almost paranoid careful who they let bow hunt, for the most part, because of the potential for accidents and lawsuits if there is an idiot running around playing Geronimo...

I think comments like that are paid psy-ops. The totalitarians are literally trying to rewrite history to brainwash even more people.

Nor do I, but I knew about the law.

“Fake bull balls”?

Surely you have seen them on trucks? If you haven't, here's what they look like.

Again, I think they are the ultimate in tasteless and i'm almost okay with them being outlawed, but I think it is an overreach for a legislature to do so.

“Wait... upon further reading... I (a male) have to wear a shirt in Montana???”

Well, it’s 54 here in Bozeman right now - though I am wearing shorts I am also wearing a shirt.

Anyone seriously interested in moving to Montana please PM me - the Wife is a Realtor/Broker/Owner (she is currently wearing a shirt as well :-) She’s very, very excellent.

Oh, okay-I’ve seen those on trucks-mostly chevy supercab diesels with dualies in front of bars on the Farm Road on Friday afternoons on my way home from work. If one of the guys I work with had those on his truck, he’d probably be ridiculed off the jobsite.

I think it is more silly then tasteless, but I don’t want it outlawed-that and the other ridiculous things some guys put on their trucks are a great source of amusement for a lot of us...
