GOP Strategist: Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush Carry Same Odds in 2016
NewsMax ^ | February 16, 2015 | Drew MacKenzie

A leading Republican consultant has ranked the top 10 presidential candidates for 2016 while claiming that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has about the same odds of winning the party’s nomination as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, The Washington Post reported.

The unnamed strategist divided the GOP race for 2016 into "four lanes" — establishment, tea party, social conservative and libertarian, according to the newspaper.

Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker are the leading candidates in establishment, the largest lane, while former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is battling it out with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum for the social conservative lane.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has the libertarian lane all by himself, while Cruz is the dominant figure in the tea party lane.

"What that means — particularly in the early stages of the primary process in places such as Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina — is that [Cruz] will probably be able to win, place or show repeatedly, racking up enough strongish performances to keep going even as the establishment and social-conservative lanes thin out," writes the Post’s Chris Cillizza.

"The trick for Cruz, the consultant said, is to hang around long enough to be the preeminent figure not only in the tea party lane but also in the social-conservative lane."(continued)

If Cruz or Walker or any conservatives does win the nomination the Bush money will go to defeat him in the election. Bush is running to ensure a Democrat win.

I am all for Ted Cruz. I will say the same thing about Sarah Palin, and about every Republican candidate.

I am simply saying he needs to be for our very own country. Strongly so.

Be for bringing back American jobs, Ted.

I’m series.

We have been selling out our own country now for over an entire generation. America needs to be supporting American businesses.

By supporting American jobs.

One represents the future.

The other represents the past.

I would hope that Ted Cruz might also fit within the “social conservative” wing, and that that wing isn’t regarded as so blatantly distinct from the “tea party” wing.

Cruz and The Rodham

Yeah, I'd place a bet on Ted coming out the winner - big time.

Hillary and Jeb are "kin" to each other. Jeb would be so nice that he would look like the loser.

Do you have a source for this nonsense?

Just so you know, I have no intention of supporting Jeb (or any pro-amnesty-for-illegal-alien GOP candidate), but it's simply not necessary to make stuff up.

Well, since here endorsement record last year was 20 successes out of 22, I’d say she’s a better “consultant” than you or Karl Rove will ever be, nicht wahr?

Yes I want to comment.

Some who read only the first line might conclude this is belittling Cruz’s chances.

Read on, and the truth is exactly the opposite.

Bush is Uber Establishment, while Cruz is an insurgent. But what they had in common for this analysis (a snapshot in time) is their equal mathematical chance.

And goes on to point out where Cruz has more potential than John and Suzy Q public have been led to believe.

If people believe a Cruz win is possible, he will gain from where he is, just because of that.

If people think he can’t win, they’ll be predisposed to vote for someone else...

Thanks. Jindal and Pence also probably come closest to Cruz in being in a similar mold.

I wouldn’t underestimate Cruz. I think Bush has the harder road even with money. First there is him running with the Bush name which I don’t believe anyone outside of the insular GOP elite really desires which was the same group that was trying to resurrect Romney and are the same kind of Republicans that tried to get Ford to come out and run against Reagan. The biggest weakness I see with Cruz is that though he stands for all the right things and I love him but he doesn’t have anything to point to as far as saying “Here is what I accomplished”. The ex Governors especially Scott Walker and Perry can point to their states and say look at this “We lead the nation in job creation”. Perry though really sucked in the debates last time. Cruz without a doubt will shine in the debates.

RE :”Well, since here endorsement record last year was 20 successes out of 22, I’d say she’s a better “consultant” than you or Karl Rove will ever be, nicht wahr?”

Those numbers don't add up.

Of the 19 races that have been settled so far this year, Palin’s candidate has won four of them: the primary campaigns of Barry Loudermilk (Ga.) and Dan Bongino (Md.) for the House and Joni Ernst (Iowa) and Ben Sasse (Neb.) for the Senate. All of her other endorsed candidates have lost.

Sarah Palin’s 2014 hasn’t been so good. Can Kansas turn that around? September 25, 2014

That's 15 losses/4 wins of the 19.

Jeb Bush does not stand a chance in the general election, I think that is pretty clear.

I can definitely see the GOPE backing Hillary over Ted Cruz, he might have to run against both party machines.
