ISIS SEIZES RAMADI CITY – 300 US Marines Trapped at Base – Contact With Base Lost

ISIS fighters seized most of Ramadi – where 300 US Marines are stationed training Iraqi Forces.

Al-Asad base is near the city – where 300 Marines are stationed.

The US Marines at Al-Asad airbase has been under frequent attack since January.
But today ISIS seized large swaths of the city.

The al-Asad air base is near the town of al-Baghadai in Western Iraq, apparently captured a few hours ago by ISIS

I think proving who the bad guy is is the hardest thing.

I watched a documentary the other night - they said the ragheads would fire from one building. To gain a better angle they would walk across the road in clear view of the Marines, enter another building and resume firing.

But - they had weapons stashed in all of the buildings, so they could walk around in clear view unarmed. And therefore not a “bad guy”.

Another one I watched quite awhile ago some soldier shot a guy but it wasn’t clear if he had a weapon or not. The soldier was freaking out, in the middle of a fire-fight, if he was going to get in trouble or not for killing the guy.

I think the real target of ISIS is actually Jordan, Jordan is one of the only islamic-ish countries in the area that has decent relations (relatively speaking) with Israel, the last country that did was Egypt and look what happened there....

I think the ISIS/Iranian/Turkey Goal is to remove Jordan and then Israel is Truly all alone in the night....

Per Reuters, about 320 Marines are training Iraqi troops at al-Baghdadi, 85 km (50 mi) northwest of Ramadi.

90% of the al-Baghdadi district has fallen under insurgents control.

I seriously hope this not turn into a redux of the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae. On the other hand, these are Marines and this could be a turkey shoot. I remember hearing about Marines with M16A4s causing so many massive casualties in the Iraq War that the UN was screaming about human rights.

Let’s hope they are still on each person there.

I worked at Al Asad for 15 months, it’s out in the middle of nowhere. It’s a large base approximately 6 miles x 6 miles square. An Iraqi Army camp was next door. No one’s getting close to the base without detection/annihilation. Whoever said radio contact was lost with the base is hyperventilating. What? Did they have two tin cans and a string linking the two together? Ramadi is not Al Asad.

Bret Baier is reporting that the base has not been taken. However, most of the city has.

“The most ferocious fighting machine the world has ever seen is a 19 yr old PISSED OFF MARINE.” Actually, I guess any age of Marine would count.
