WEST ALLIS, Wis. – An 11th grade U.S. Government and Politics student believes only a fascist would make the statement: “We should not help the poor, it’s a waste of money.”
But the Nathan Hale High School student – who answered that on a quiz – found out he was “wrong.”
According to the quiz, it’s a conservative who believes that.
“When I picked my son up from school, he asked me what political party did I think thought ‘We should not help the poor, it’s a waste of money,'” the student’s mother, Heather Bronnson, tells EAGnews.

Conservatives support charities.
Charities help the poor.
Government wastes money on everything it does.
I’m all for helping the truly needy and that means both helping them find a way out of poverty and making poverty an uncomfortable place to sit.
More like, paying most teachers is a waste of money.
Government programs are not helping the poor, for sure.
The first problem (among many) is the incorrect political spectrum at the top of the quiz. Communism and Fascism aren’t really that far apart.
Lefties really hate the idea of voluntary charity,
probably because the Christian Bible says it should be voluntary.
There, fixed it.
If you want to see a lefty look like you slapped them,
show them how the “charity through gov’t” programs are greatly harming the people they think they are helping.
They hang their halos on their advocacy of such programs,
and when you tell them those programs are less than worthless,
you have dropped their halo with a resounding crash.
Name just one Liberal charity (the government is not included)...secondly, what happened to Johnson’s War on Poverty and The Great Society?
How about the liberal studies done, where they find out that conservatives are more likely to give or volunteer more and more often than liberals?
Institutionalized insanity. The questions on this quiz are so liberal value loaded no rational student could ever get an A.
For most conservative students, academic success consists of telling them what you know they want to hear, while knowing the truth is otherwise.
We’ve spent about 30 TRILLION dollars just since 1965 and it doesn’t seem to be working. A trillion is a thousand billion and a billion is a thousand million.
No human effort is needed to “make poverty an uncomfortable place to be.” It simply is — this is like the concept of making water wet. This is the strawman which is raised in the OP.
If the same thing had gone through charities that had faces instead of through a political spoils system, vastly more good would have been done.

Moderates are merely Democrats with another name, so add them to the list.
If, by “helping the poor”, one means providing them an education which will enable them to lift themselves out of that unfortunate category, then helping the poor is never a waste of money. If, on the other hand, “helping the poor” means giving people money for doing nothing (except voting Democratic), then it is indeed a waste of money. Giving people money for doing nothing destroys their natural hunger for accomplishment, turning them into complacent do-nothings.
Nothing guarantees poverty like dependency on government. Therefore, I am against handing out money to able-bodied people, as it will keep them poor.
