The skimpy, moldy, mysterious and downright gross Michelle O lunches Congress should see

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As Congress readies to reauthorize Michelle Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act this year, students and parents continue to post photographic evidence of the program’s shortcomings.

The School Nutrition Association is weighing in, too.

” … Some of USDA’s regulations under the law have unnecessarily increased costs and waste for school meal programs and caused many students to swap healthy school meals for junk food fare,” says SNA CEO Patricia Montague in a news release.

The group points out 1.4 million fewer children are eating school lunches since the rules championed by First Lady Michelle Obama were implemented.

That can easily be explained by some of the skimpy, moldy, mysterious and downright disgusting lunches being served to students.

Take a look at some of the photos students have posted to Twitter in just the last few days:

Meanwhile, First Lady Michelle Obama is urging parents to do more.

“I want you to really dive into this issue in your schools, your organizations, community, your company, your family, wherever you are a leader and decision-maker. Dive in. If Robert Wood Johnson can invest half a billion dollars … surely we can push the envelope and aim just a little higher in our own efforts,” Obama said at a speech announcing the foundation’s contribution to “healthy” food initiatives, according to Newsday.

“We’ve seen the progress we can make,” the first lady said, “when we educate parents and we help them make healthier decisions.”

When I was in school you either paid for it yourself, I think it was .75 (and it was never good), or you brought your lunch, or you went hungry.

Why is it our government today is relied on not only for lunch (and some places breakfast and even dinner), but a gourmet health meal as well? Cost is no consideration? Personal responsibility is no consideration?

THIS is the problem.

While you are correct that we taxpayers are funding most of this you should know that many schools do not allow brown bagging/lunch pails/lunchables any more and when they do, many have someone there to “inspect” them and make sure they meet some government-imposed nutritional guidelines. When they don’t the lunch is confiscated and the student is forced to charge a meal that is then billed to the parents, in many cases. It ain’t 1978 any more. When my parents were unable to buy school lunches I worked as a dishwasher in the kitchen to pay for my meals.

Just as surely as we have become a nation of fat whales, this is not going to solve the problem. They told us for decades that “fat makes you fat”, “butter is evil”, “salt causes high blood pressure”, “exercise will burn off fat”, and a ton of other outright lies and half truths. At the same time, they push soy and high fructose corn syrup on us to the point that they are almost impossible to avoid. People marvel at how their great-grandparents ate butter, drank cream or whole milk, fried everything in lard, and weren’t land whales, even though they didn’t go to spin class. No, it wasn’t all working in the fields, because city folk weren’t fat back then either. It’s the crap the government pushes as food. How much soy did your great-granny eat? NONE. The obesity epidemic started EXACTLY when the government decided to fix what wasn’t a problem. If people like Moochelle hadn’t started the problem in the first place, I would be willing to say that she’s well-intentioned now. Nope.

To be fair its hardly the fault of Michelle obozo that the preparers cant keep the food fresh. She’s totally to blame for the selection.

But if you send your kid to school with a ham and cheese on rye and a banana i a brown bag, you’ll get arrested by the DCF. Fed interference in public schooling has turned this nation into a sh**hole.

When a liberal talks about “healthy” food, they mean LESS food. They think that the American masses consume too much and are too large and too strong compared to the other people of the world. We would be easier to manage if we were 5 inches shorter and 50% lighter.

Likewise, “sustainable” energy means LESS energy and very little luxury.

A ‘living” wage means all wages equalized to the same level that guarantees enough to eat “healthy” and live a “sustainable” lifestyle.

Of course, this does not apply to the elites who make these decisions for us.

That last photo, dog puke with shriveled apple, really makes you hungry.

That ‘tortilla with tongue on top’ takes the 2nd place award.

If they were ordinary green beans, you were either deceived by your host or cheated by the restaurant.

My guess is that the elite children of congress people won’t be getting near this kind of food ...

A good guess. There was a post a few weeks back with a photo of the lunches served at Sidwell Friends, the private school the Obama daughters attend. It was a lot more appetizing!

My son has gotten offers of up to $5 for his sliced roast beef on croissant with baconaisse and swiss that I fix him everyday for lunch. I could make money, I get the items at Costco. (He is picky, that is all he wants for lunch, but I still save over the $3 the school lunch costs).

Actually, in the one of the pictures above where I can see the label, they are serving 0% fat, or skim milk to children. Yuck.

Oh, the horror!

I work in a school and well know what these school lunches look like - what the photos don’t convey is how bad they SMELL.

Whatever it is, it certainly isn’t edible!!

This slop should be served at the next White House dinner.

Non-fat milk is served to the kids in the district in which I teach. I’d say 99%+ goes straight into the trash.

Kids bring Monster and other “energy” drinks to school instead of drinking milk. Chocolate and strawberry milk were done away with a few years ago - thing is, the kids drank those - at least they were getting some milk and calcium.

It looked like the restroom was out of toilet paper and they used a tortilla as an emergency wipe.

On second thought, that just might taste better than the cafeteria hog slop being served.

This is good stuff. The only thing the children of low information voters will glean from this experience is that Michelle Obama is bad. They might even extrapolate that into democrats are bad.

That’s enough to turn a generation.

I think Americans are fat because we no longer smoke. When I grew up, virtually every home I visited in my middle class neighborhood was smoke filled. It was unusual to find a man who didn’t smoke at all, and although it was not as universal with the women, those who smoked were thin and those who did not were fat.

Once smoking became frowned upon, people got fat and we all got enamored with the latest food crazes, as you pointed out, which only exacerbated the problem.

I wonder how a kid caught in possession with a backpack full of homemade burritos would be treated compared with someone else found to be selling drugs.

Probably life imprisonment for the burrito seller, maybe five years suspended sentence for the drug dealer.
