Pat Buchanan: Boehner Had No Right to Invite Netanyahu
Newsmax ^ | Thursday, February 5, 2015 | Bill Hoffmann

House Speaker John Boehner made a mistake inviting Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before Congress next month -- and the Israeli prime minister erred by accepting, legendary conservative pundit Pat Buchanan says.

"I disagree with what John Boehner did and I disagree with what the prime minister did," Buchanan said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show," on Newsmax TV.

Netanyahu is set to address Congress on the dangers of Iran's growing nuclear program on March 3 following an invitation by Boehner.

But Boehner did not follow normal protocol by coordinating the invite with the Obama administration, which then announced the president would not meet with Netanyahu.

"It's a mistake to come over here and Boehner to give him time to criticize the foreign policy of the president of the U.S. in the same forum as the State of the Union," Buchanan said.

But the bestselling author and former communications director for President Reagan added that Democratic members of Congress should not boycott Netanyahu's address, as some have hinted they will.

"I don't think we want to compound [Boehner's error]," Buchanan said. "Folks in the Congress of the United States, if they're there, they ought to go and hear the speech."

In addition to spanking Boehner, Buchanan is also fuming at Obama for comparing the extreme barbarity of the Islamic State (ISIS) to the Crusades, in which horrifying acts were carried out a thousand years ago in the name of Jesus Christ.

Boehner doesn’t have any loyalties to Obama, the man who is trying to destroy the USA’s ally in the Middle East (Israel). Obama’s policy toward Iran is destructive to the USA and deserves absolutely NO CONSIDERATION AT ALL, except to defeat this evil policy of Obama’s.

And Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is precisely the person to give a breath of fresh air (of truth) to Congress, as compared to the outright LIES from Obama!

Netanyahu is on the side of the USA, while Obama is trying to destroy the USA!

Sure, maybe the Pope inspired the Crusaders to unite and fight. So, they wore a red cross on their tunics. But, the crusaders were led by secular aristocracy that were worried about losing their holdings to cutthroat Muslims. It was as much about defend borders and culture as it was about religion. The religion aspect was initiated by the Muslims. They threatened the conquered to convert or die or live as a lesser class.

He didn’t have President Reagan give that eulogy to SS troops for no reason.

In other words, Ronald Reagan was just an empty suit and a dolt obeying what his clever puppetmasters said. That was basically the Left's party line about the entire Reagan Presidency, sad to see it repeated here. Has it ever occurred to you that Reagan himself may have also thought it fitting to give a eulogy to Germany's war dead?

That’s become increasingly clear over the past 35 years.

I used to be a fan and believed his friends who said he was not anti-semitic, not any more.

Buchanan hates Israel, and I have no patience for anyone who hates Israel. As another Israel hater once put it, Period.

The Pope is going to come over here and give his own speech, telling us we should open up our borders.

Pat, what’s your opinion on that?

The executive branch has no say over who the house of rep. invites to talk to them. Separation of powers is something obozo hates. Everyone should go to him highness for permission....but that's because Obama is an ignorant jerk..and so is any one that thinks the executive branch has that power..

Pat should hang up his spikes before he loses his last remaining fans.

Like a ball player who hangs around too long after his prime, Buchanan will be batting .180 soon and even the minors won't sign him up.

Pat Buchanan grew up in a household where his father was a big fan of the anti-semitic Father Coughlin that had a radio show many listened to back then. Like Mel Gibson and his father, the acorn doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Pat is at best anti-Israel, at worst, like Mel, an anti-semite that tries (not very well) to hide it. It’s a shame because on many political topics Pat is mostly right, and he is a very smart man indeed. It’s just that he has this Achille’s heel when it comes to Israel/Jews, his fatal flaw.

Looks like I’ll have to agree with you that Buchanan has gone batty. I’ve missed a lot of his stuff just because I’ve tuned him out since whenever the topic involves Jooze, he’s on Booze.

Heh, nice alliteration, or assonance, or whatever, in your reply. :’) And it gives me an idea, “Batty Patty”... yeah, I’m going to use that. ;’)

Nice try. Did it ever occur to you that Reagan relied on his staff not to mislead him, and Pat Buchanan did just that? Laying that wreath on the SS dead was just plain stupid, and going there to do that, while not similarly memorializing Holocaust victims was also just plain stupid. I lay the responsibility for that on President Reagan himself, since it was his Presidency, but he picked the team, and should have considered the possibility that he needed to listen to someone besides PJB.

Yeah, I wondered if anyone would pick up on that line, from a purportedly conservative writer. Thanks LRM.

The Pope is going to come over here and give his own speech, telling us we should open up our borders.

The irony of your statement is that Pat Buchanan was one of the most vocal advocates of controlling our borders and restricting immigration, while those who launched the smear campaign against him (neoconservative luminaries like Kristol, etc, whose talking points about the German Cemetery, etc. are repeated here verbatim) are or were the open borders wing of the GOP, and called Buchanan a "racist" and "xenophobe" for daring to bring these matters up. If the GOP establishment and the neoconservatives have changed their rhetoric at all on immigration, it's because the grassroots won't stomach it any more
