Joe Biden wont be there to welcome Benjamin Netanyahu to a joint session of Congress or even shake his hand.
The vice president will miss only his second address by a foreign leader to a joint session of Congress next month, when hell be out of the country while Netanyahu makes whats become an increasingly controversial speech warning against the Iran nuclear deal.
The vice presidents office on Friday confirmed the plans to skip the March 3 speech.
We are not ready to announce details of his trip yet, and normally our office wouldnt announce this early, but the planning process has been underway for a while, a spokesperson for the office said.
Bidens absence heads off some awkwardness the White House deeply opposes the politics of this speech, as well as the allegedly violated protocol, so not having the vice president sit behind Netanyahu avoids what could be taken as a symbolic show of support. His facial expressions wont be parsed, nor will anyone be counting which lines he applauds, and for how long.

Oh good!
He’s such a coward, ducking out of the country. Greta VanSustern vowed to send out cameras to check on any elected officials who declined to attend Bibi’s address and see how they were otherwise spending their time instead of listening to America’s strongest ally in the ME.
This is why they sent Bug-Eyes Pelosi out yesterday broadcasting code-speak about democrats not attending the speech.
Obama is Muslim Brotherhood. We don’t want him there, neither he nor Biden.
And the world needs to see who stood with Israel and who didn’t. The night of Netanyahu’s address that will be crystal clear to anyone with an eye to see.
Don’t worry about the people of the USA as Brian Williams will make up some good story to fill the time that would have been allotted to Bibi’s visit and speech.
hang on, “makes a controversial speech”!!! HUH
Saying Iran is a terrorist supporting nation with facts to back it up is now controversial
Clint Eastwood can warm up the crowd with his empty chair routine.
Can’t the Senate Majority Leader designate a senator to sit in for the President of the Senate?
You beat me to it. I was thinking, they should give Clint Eastwood the honor (well, if he would take it) of sitting in Biden’s chair.
The seat vacated by Biden goes to Senate President Pro Tem Orrin Hatch, R-Utah.
Hatch and Boehner will be sitting behind Netanyahu on March 3rd.
Biden will be busy getting his hair re-plugged.
Hatch has been in office for 38 years 34 days - longest of any Senator in the majority.
Or put cardboard cutouts of them. Who’s gonna know the difference anyways? They’re both fake!
This won't affect the vote of the "American Jewish community," but pay no attention to them. American conservatives and moralists should ally with the Orthodox Jewish Sages and let the "official" American Jewish "leadership" go.
So Obola is at war with Congress...I just hope that the house does not wait to file articles of impeachment until they are all under house arrest...
Will it be televised live? I am looking forward to hearing a true leader of the free world.
No big loss...
Should be on all the cable nets. You can still view his first 2 speeches to Congress here. Both started in the morning:

They should invite Clint Eastwood and an empty chair
for the president...

If Hatch had any guts he would leave the seat vacant -— you KNOW the ‘RATS would do that if the situation were reversed. But Hatch will likely want to do the “collegial” thing and take the seat thus masking Biden’s absence.
