Senate Republican offers compromise to let Dreamers stay
Reuters ^ | February 4, 2015 | BY SUSAN CORNWELL

(Reuters) - A U.S. Senate Republican on Wednesday proposed breaking the impasse in Congress over President Barack Obama's immigration policies by blocking only his 2014 executive order affecting the undocumented parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents.

The amendment from Senator Susan Collins of Maine would not affect Obama's 2012 program that helped undocumented child immigrants, widely known as the "Dreamers" program.

The amendment marked a crack in Republican solidarity behind a House of Representative-passed bill that would defund the actions that Obama took both in 2012 and 2014 to lift the threat of deportation for millions of people.

The fight raging in Congress over Obama's immigration policy has delayed passage of a Department of Homeland Security funding bill; the agency faces a Feb. 27 deadline when money runs out.

Collins said she could not support the provision in the House-passed legislation that would undo the Dreamers program for undocumented children.

“I just think it's not right to send them back to their home countries when many of them have known no other home than America, and they didn’t make the decision to come here, their parents brought them here," Collins told reporters.

"That's the sweet spot for getting this bill passed," she said, referring to the funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the immigration programs.

Why doesn’t she just become a Democrat. We have extra majority and can afford to get rid of her from the party. She does nothing for us.

““I just think it’s not right to send them back to their home countries when many of them have known no other home than America, and they didn’t make the decision to come here, their parents brought them here”

Fine. Here are the options then:

You join the armed forces for 5 years in a branch not of your choosing.

Or you give up the right to vote in any election for life.

Those under 18 will have that choice when they reach that age.

Those above 35 lose voting rights for life. No welfare PERIOD.

Drop dead, bleeding heart fool.

Kids get a free pass — they fasten onto the public teat “muy pronto”. And then, why, you have to let their parents stay. ANd their siblings. And their aunts and uncles. Cousins. Second cousins. Second cousins once removed. Nannies. Neighbors. And on and on and onandonandon...

Ayn Rand: “In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.”

Every compromise with democrats and others trying to “Fundamentally Transform” America is a loss for Americans and a gain for the usurpers.

Every compromise, large and small, rolls back the Constitution and abridges our freedom.

Fine! Can them for awhile. Or forever. NO back pay either.

The only ones that sort of matter (or, at least, used to matter) are border patrol and ICE. Put armed militia on the border in their place.

By the way, the SECRET SERVICE is a component of DHS! Ha ha ha ha! Obola will have to drive himself around!

Ted Cruz supports this, according to one report:
“...many of the senators in attendance — including Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Susan Collins of Maine — agreed the next step should be to strike out the provision designed to bring to a halt the 2012 executive actions affecting the group of young people brought to the United States as children who are often referred to as “DREAMers.””
http://blogs.rollcall.com/wgdb/democrats-unified-and-in-campaign-mode-on-immigration-orders/

This may turn out not to be true, but I can see Ted settling for 2/3 of the loaf so-to-speak.
The 2014 amnesty was more damaging.

Perhaps we try a radical solution.

Have them conform to the rules and follow the process that all American immigrants seeking citizenship must through.

They have to find and hold a job and take full financial responsibility for themselves and their family. If they can't hold a job and be a productive member of society they should be deported.

No welfare.

Meet minimum eduction standards.

Take citizenship lessons.

Demonstrate literacy and ability to speak the English language.

Follow the rules all immigrants have to follow. If they are convicted of any criminal offense they should be deported.

No voting until they have completed the full process which should take around 15 years, at which point they will be assimilated and will have learned our system and have a vested interest in the success of the United States.

Take a standard citizenship oath at the end of the process.

The process has worked for tens of millions of legal immigrants from all over the world and has made this country what it is today.

All other illegal immigrants are de facto felons who entered the country with criminal intent. They should forever forfeit their voting rights same way other felons have in the past.

"That's the sweet spot for getting this bill passed," she said, referring to the funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the immigration programs.

She's probably right but once the Senate Democrats get this concession, they'll tighten up their demands which will make this bill unpassable. They don't want "compromise", they want a win.

I just think it's not right to send them back to their home countries when many of them have known no other home than America

Oxymoronic statement. She says they have no home countries right after saying they do.

It was their illegal alien parents choice to bring them to the U.S.

Do illegal aliens decide who our future citizenry will be?

If they have home countries as she said - then they and their parents can head home since they already robbed the taxpayers for schooling they got, food assistance they got, medical care they got...the list is endless.

You don't let the squatters whole family stay just because they're inside the house when discovered.

I am so sick and tired of the fake GOP “Conservatives” and the rest of the garbage clan...

Have they so quickly forgotten Obama’s statement... “elections have consequences”? Repub. gained the majority in the Senate, and a larger majority in the House (as well as a record number of Governor’s offices) - because of the Anti-Obama EVERYTHING sentiment. People are weary of Obama’s destruction of the rule of law...

So several GOP idiots decided to go along and play Obama’s game... and give in... how nice.

“I just think it's not right to send them back to their home countries when many of them have known no other home than America, and they didn’t make the decision to come here, their parents brought them here," Collins told reporters.

As specious an argument as can be expected from Medea Benjamin, the other kook.

If a lifetime criminal, maintains a family from illegal acts, it does not entitle the children to enjoying ill-gotten benefits "because they didn't make the decision to share in the criminal-gotten family life."
If they are honest, (and honestly productive) they should be happy to work to confirm their commitment to their new country.

Becoming illegal alien activist lawyers does NOT qualify!

Yes. They ARE the UniParty. And, sadly, none of them give a flip about what you and I think about this Fundamental Transformation that’s taking place.

Calling their sorry arsses seems to do NO good. They’re not listening.
