Time for Scott Walker to get serious about foreign policy
Washington Examiner ^ | 01/31/2015 | Philip Klein

It came as no surprise to me that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker dazzled the audience at the recent Iowa Freedom Summit.

I have long touted the potential strength of Walker as a presidential candidate. He has an impressive record of actual governing accomplishments and has advanced conservative ideas in the face of fierce opposition from unions and liberal activists nationwide. He’s also demonstrated clear political skill in winning three elections in four years in a blue state. At a time of division among Republicans, it’s hard to think of another candidate who can excite conservatives as much as Walker without giving nightmares to party elites.

I also never really understood where the idea developed among the Beltway media that he was too boring, as over the years I’ve frequently seen Walker energize conservative crowds when he needed to. All of Walker's best attributes as a candidate were on display in Iowa, as he spoke with fire in his belly, articulating a firm conservative message that was backed up by his record of success and communicated in an affable and relatable manner.

So, having talked up Walker’s chances when many were underestimating him, I think it’s worth offering a note of caution now that that everybody else has realized he’s been underestimated.

For Walker to realize his potential as a candidate, he will have to get serious about foreign policy.

This Governor is incredible. He needs to cement some of his issues and he is golden. He is our Ronnie Reagan no double.

Scott Walker needs to publicly DUMP Common Core and "Amnesty Support".

Otherwise, he's just a Yankee version of Jeb Bush, who (to his credit) had the balls to fight the Unions ...

Since, Walker will "never" dump CC or Amnesty ...the clear choice is Ted Cruz ...

I don’t care. He is the ONLY one with results. Go Walker 2016 and so many are starting to figure out what I already know. Walker has a magnificent chance at being our President in 2016.

Scott could benefit from a voice and public speaking coach.
His sentences are too long for his wind. He speaks from his chest, not his gut. Old time broadcasters know about this...

Coach or not, he’s got my vote.

I hope is Foreign Policy steers towards Nixon style. His back office is pretty tight to have kept him afloat and surviving the onslaught he faced.

He’s got the well oiled machinery I think. I hope he steers clear of the party apparatchiks.

“..Scott Walker needs to publicly DUMP Common Core and “Amnesty Support”.”

He also needs to jump all over OBAMACARE and the way it was ILLEGALLY forced upon the American people. Obama’s lawlessness is on the list too. Many golden opportunities exist in this campaign for the right fighting candidate.

Here we go ...

Ted Cruz had the balls and fight to stand against ObamaCare, virtually alone.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with much of the well-deserved praise that Rush Limbaugh has lavished on Scott Walker ...

but ... the "ONLY one" comment is incorrect.

What worries me about the "only one" perspective is that's what the GOPe-RINO Chamber-of-Commerce "political whores" propagandized us in 2012 about Romney ...

and they're doing that in 2015 with Jeb Bush ...

Scot Walker and Ted Cruz need to have a gentlemen's agreement to campaign separately until New Hampshire, and then endorse the other just before South Carolina.

Jeb Bush MUST be knocked-out of the race before the Florida primary.

He kissed Sheldon Adelson’s ring. That should be enough for beltway types.

We’ve got well over a year before the elections, yet the MSM is using every poll-point change - up, or down - to feed its 24/7 appetite. It’s already pretty sickening.

Walker, and all the candidates, will change their point of view based on the polls and their audience countless times be tern now and then.

FOX news is clearly in the bucket for either Bush, or Rubio.

I think two indicators are, 1. Whomever the left attacks most will be our best bet, and 2. Be careful of the lefts Trojan horses.

We’ve had almost 30 years of liberal leadership, sinking America to near-Detroit level at every turn. Such destruction for that amount of time will certainly indicate the need for a fearless, tell-it-like-it-is leadership.

I will go with CRUZ. If Jeb gets nominated, I will still vote, but I’ll vote a write-in to dispel all rumors and excuses from the GOPe as to WHY they lost. It would stifle Carl Rove’s white-board armchair quarterbacking and sho the elite exactly WHY they lost.

No more voting for the lesser evil. It’s all or nothing.

“..Jeb Bush MUST be knocked-out of the race before the Florida primary.”

I would estimate that present numbers that show most do not want Jeb and his pro-Mexican, open-border and Common Core stance. That should be enough to knock him out of the process. (we hope) — most are fed up with RINOs.

Well, I guess if Ted Cruz doesn’t run, you’re staying home...

Says some blogger. Walker will show his cards when he is ready. He has proven to be a master strategist, which includes knowing which battles to pick, and when.

HE projects strength, confidence and self-assurance, all of which were amply demonstrated by his victories over Big Labor.

Show something that shows Walker’s position is different than Cruz’s, http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/scott-walker-clarifies-his-stance-in-illegal-immigration-debate-lm8vluj-194096481.html

Walker never endorsed giving citizenship and his state is in the lawsuit against amnesty by executive order.

Walker’s biggest problem I take it are people who don’t know what they are talking about.

He’s defunded the nation’s biggest abortion provider, the guy that wants to give “temporary legal residency” that could become permanent legal residency hasn’t. http://therightscoop.com/sen-ted-cruz-also-supports-temporary-legalization-status-in-the-immigration-bill/

What’s this?

http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/scott-walker-clarifies-his-stance-in-illegal-immigration-debate-lm8vluj-194096481.html (Nothing about citizenship, he hasn’t even introduced a bill to give millions of illegals “temporary legal residency that could become permanent).

I pray for Scott Walker, with legislative help, passed the ultra-sound bill, defunded planned parenthood, planned parenthood clinics shut down in Wisconsin, even Christie has done some of this. That Ohio governor has too.

Not just bringing up some legislation for “mis hermanos latinos” to give temporary residency that could become permanent residency.

Walker set his foot down, did not say a word about citizenship. http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/scott-walker-clarifies-his-stance-in-illegal-immigration-debate-lm8vluj-194096481.html

Yeah - already setting up the meme that Cruz (my first choice) is the ONLY one worthy of your vote - no wonder the Right is constantly falling further behind.
