The polarizing topic of gun control in the U.S. is once again in the national and world spotlight as gun manufacturer PARA USA calls for a boycott of the film Taken 3. The films lead actor, Liam Neeson, told a reporter last week that he felt there were too many guns in America. During the interview he added, Every week now were picking up a newspaper and seeing Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.
While the debate over the constitutionality of gun control laws rages, Neesons comment exemplifies the critical view of the rest of the world on gun control in the U.S. Nations such as France, Germany, the U.K. and Australia have strict gun control laws that make it difficult for anyone to own firearms. Political scientists and politicians say that is something not likely to change despite the recent attacks on the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris.

Another actor who thinks he knows everything. Add one more to the pile
And who gives a tinkers dam what the rest of the world thinks about our gun laws or anything else we do at home?
Liam Neeson is a mediocre actor with a big mouth given to comments on things he knows nothing about.
Neeson has no problem whatsoever making his millions on one violent movie after another here though.
Screw the rest of the world. Let them be sheep.
GIANT roger that. Well maybe we’ve hurt their feeling somehow. Too bad. New flash IPOS. There actually is evil in the world.
Most actors are too f’ing stupid to be idiots and Neeson tops the list.
Liar.
They hate our constitution, and our rights...but they’ll kill their grandmothers to come here and live.
ditto...
I second this remark to the 'Nth" power.
That's not possible. We have strict laws that prevent people from taking guns in to schools.
Hmmmm...he must cringe all the way to the bank! :)
“Liam Neeson is a mediocre actor with a big mouth given to comments on things he knows nothing about.”
*********
Correct IMHO!
Actions speak louder than words.
Neeson has starred in many big-budget wide-distribution movies depicting a protagonist facing a problem and solving it with a gun (or other lethal weapon, from hands to light saber) in a context & resolution wherein he and the audience clearly acknowledge that the means to the peaceful end were, in fact, appropriate and well-founded. “Mere entertainment!” many will shriek; well, like it or not the material does count as a “morality play”, issuing the message to viewers (by the tens of millions or more!) that the solution depicted is the best possible and likewise ethically superior. He did not turn down the role as storyteller for that message, though his bank account certainly permits idealistic choice.
Put your money where your mouth is, Neeson: either stop making weapon-centric movies, or stop telling others they shouldn’t solve lethal problems as you demonstrate at great cost.
Liam hates guns I tell you, doesn't want kids exposed to them. Teach kids that 'guns kill' like he does,
I saw a movie last week where Liam Neeson's character (played by him) is kidnapped and bound but has his cell phone and calls his wife and asked her to bring him a.....DADADA...a gun!
Neeson should sign a pledge not to act in movies which involve guns. Hollywood should take the same pledge and not produce any movies involving guns.
If they don’t like our gun laws, don’t come to the US.
It’s that simple.
The Constitution is the law of the land, that’s all there is to it.
If they are so bloody concerned about “gun control” and that “Yet another few kids have been killed in schools”, why don’t they ever attempt to expend their energy in places where the islamic hordes are killing anyone who does not align with their worldview in places such as Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan (most of the ‘stans, actually), Boznia, Serbia, and most of the continent of Africa (remember Boko Haram?) -to name just a few.
I am certain that if they just passed laws outlawing guns and th murder of children and people in general in those places then of course all of the killings would stop.
Oh, wait... murder is already illegal, is it not? Well, perhaps if someone pointed this out to them?
