After Long Legal Fight, Inquest Is Set to Begin in Death of Putin Critic
NYT ^ | 24 Jan 15 | Alan Cowell

LONDON — It has consumed more than eight years of maneuvering, obstruction and a widow’s dogged legal campaign, fought often on a shoestring. But finally, on Tuesday, a public inquiry is set to begin its quest for an answer to the question that has driven the whole process: Why did Alexander V. Litvinenko have to die?

On Nov. 1, 2006, Mr. Litvinenko, a former officer of the Soviet K.G.B. in self-exile in London and a vocal critic of President Vladimir V. Putin, sipped tea from a poisoned pot, took sick and died 22 days later. Only after his death did British scientists confirm that the poison was Polonium 210, a rare isotope manufactured mostly in Russia.

Putinistas, supporters of President for Life Putin, don't think these types of things matter. But they do. You cannot be a former KGB man turned gangster statesman and disturber of the peace of Europe and the true champion of Jesus Christ. The nature and character of this dictator reveal a dark soul akin to all other bullies and statists who threaten freedom.

Is this Alexander Litvinenko’s beyond the grave attack on Putin?

Elsewhere, Litvenenko is called a pro Chechen Muslim. Unlike some people I don’t think this calls for including him in some indiscriminate genocide in the name of combating the evil that lies behind Islam. But could he have had enemies in Russia and even elsewhere other than Putin? Even Muslim fanatics of the opposite sect (Sunni vs. Shiite)?

Fair enough, it would need to be someone who could get at the reactors that produce it or labs that use it. Putin obviously could. But that doesn’t mean nobody else could.

Elsewhere, Litvenenko is called a pro Chechen Muslim.

If guilty as charged, 210 Po would have been an interesting sentence, certainly far beyond the capabilities of Crown Point and doubtless disallowed under the Eighth. I wonder if they included that option in the juror questionnaire for Joker Tsarnaev's upcoming trial.

But that's a big if (not the polonium, I mean the question of Litvinenko's guilt — if he was a Muslim, then Vladimir was just taking out the trash).

Unfortunatley that ‘IS’ how Russian politics play their game....as does Ukraine and others in that area.

I recall a former member of Doma.. and others... stating that “we do not do things ‘Soft’ as America does, we do it strong and hard”....and he then elaberated that this is how they do things.

I wouldn’t put it past any of them killing each other if they thought they could get away with it for political gain..because just as it is here.... that is the place to be..in Governance.... because that is where people make the big bucks via the corruption therein.

So of course Putin likely had him taken out. They’re bringing it up again because Putin’s vulnerable from the Wests perspective. ...they have a guy to assume Putin’s position and they’re gathering up for protests....so not surprising they want to have something tangible to nail Putin with.

Meanwhile Poroshenko’s loosing contol in the Government of Ukraine...and likely will loose further in the EAst. It’sn ungodly mess there and in Kiev....he’s trying to avoid marshall law but may have to do so before too long.

“Only days before the start of the inquiry, moreover, an audiotape unearthed by The Daily Telegraph newspaper was said to have been recorded by Mr. Litvinenko exactly one year before his death and purported to trace direct links between Mr. Putin and a fugitive Ukrainian crime boss suspected of selling arms to Al Qaeda.”

I’ve heard Ramzan Kadyrov was given a billion dollars to keep the natives in-line. Kadyrov, the leader of the Chechens and Putin’s ally of course.

“Random people do not have access to polonium.”

Actually it was available over the counter at high end audio equipment stores in the 60’s and 70’s.

Static-Master anti-static anti-dust brushes contained minute quantities of polonium 210 and were used to brush off vinyl record albums.

I probably have one or two of my late dad’s of that era stored with his hi-fi accessories.

It will be a full-inquiry. Perhaps other details will show up as well.

-——Unfortunatley that ‘IS’ how Russian politics play their game-——

It is how the game has been played since the beginning of time

The founding fathers chose to implement a different system for wielding power and leadership succession that turns out to be unworkable. The Clinton and Obama presidencies have shown the world that an American leader can not actually be deposed

The founders were also well aware that the old, the tried and true was alway available and perhaps Obama will learn that fact

P210 with it’s short half life is a perfect choice for a dirty bomb.

Touch off several dirty bombs in England’s main cities causing a temporary evacuation of the cities, and England would have had to pull it’s troops out of any foreign engagement to handle the situation.

Feeding him the P210 reminds me of when the Soviets chopped up the terrorist and sent the pieces back to their families as a warning.

He wasn't a Muslim until he converted on his death bed. He was killed because he was in the FSB and turned on the criminals and gangsters, like Putin. Putin is the leader of a crime family who has hijacked a nation for their own purposes.
