Health Care Rationing: ‘Secret’ British NHS Policy Won’t Send Ambulances to Terminally Ill Patients

Playing God to save a buck.

More than 50 patients have died after an NHS trust introduced a secret policy to downgrade 999 calls and not to send ambulances to terminally ill patients.

Managers at East of England ambulance trust were accused of “the most cruel form of rationing imaginable” after admitting that 8,000 patients had been affected by the changes.

An internal NHS report discloses that 57 patients died after their calls were downgraded following a decision not to send ambulances to the terminally ill and to those who had given instructions not to resuscitate.

It meant that, instead of receiving a response from paramedics in eight minutes, people reporting life-threatening illnesses were given a call back up to 20 minutes later, or had to wait up to an hour for an ambulance.

Welcome to another glimpse into the healthcare future of the United States once Obamacare implodes and the idiot progressives find a way to give us the gift of single-payer. It is a dystopian nightmare that gives bureaucrats with barely functioning intellects the power to decide who lives and dies. Imagine Helen from the DMV in a job where she gets to say, “Your mom doesn’t need to hang around for another year or two, we’re gonna send this ambulance elsewhere. Oh well.” There’s your “free” government healthcare future.

Sarah Palin was excoriated for talking about “death panels” in 2008, even though rationing has always been an insidiously integral part of single-payer systems. They have to lie to hide the fact that their policies are so ghoulish, that’s why this one was secret.

Single-payer is a monstrosity that will be impossible to undo once it’s unleashed, which is why the progressives cannot be allowed to prevail on this issue.

So, where are the British docs? Why aren’t there enough of them?

Firstly, most non-white doctors are Indian: Sikh or Hindu, most doctors like most British are white. Paki btw is a racist term in the UK.

Secondly, whilst this story if true is a disgrace, and as a conservative, I wont blindly support the NHS, all you get are the horror stories. If most Americans used the NHS, they’d be shocked that it, despite its faults, isn’t the hellhole they think it is and have been told it is.

The NHS is badly stretched at the moment, with a rising and aging population.

Maybe because whilst it has faults, some minor, some clearly major, it isn’t the third world hellish system Americans think it is?. Maybe those silly Brits actually use it daily, weekly, yearly and can see the NHS as a whole, just not what FR or Burch Barlow III tells em on talkie radio.

Where did I say that I agree with either the article or my facebook friends? I just made a passing reference. Calm down!

Obviously, one of the goals of national health care is that the government decides who lives and who dies.

They will never admit it.

I knew right away that obamacare would make us pay for aids treatment, euthanasia, abortions and sex-”change” operations, and that it would deny treatment to the elderly. (unless they are a member of the ruling elite)

The Death Panels can “fix” SocSec and Medicare.
Every year sliced of the lifespan is huge on the budget.
When the milennials get antsy about granny’s early demise, President Warren will issue some Groupons for student loan forgiveness.

Welcome to the future of Obamacare where a cost-benefit analysis will be run before you can get health care. Yep, how much value are you to the state?

There was a headline on Drudge this AM about more and more Brit expats retuning to the UK for health treatments, also this: “pin in the arse” about OCare.

Knock off the sweetie, bit, honey. I know you of a long time. If only once you would venture over to The Guardian and find out what your fellow citizens are saying about American health care, it would blow your kilt off. In fact, the dripping hatred towards America got me banned from that damned site. Free Republic is a bastion of civility compared to some of the comment pages of British newspapers - including The Telegraph.

The people I know who defend Obamacare have never actually used it. Or at least not for a major illness.

A friend from Winnipeg defended the Canadian system years ago. At the time his children were small, and like other children, they had their share of minor illnesses, bumps and bruises, plus they needed the usual immunizations. Canada's health system provided all that at no direct cost to him. Of course, he was paying for his children's care and probably to care for a slew of deadbeats and their children in the form of high sales and other taxes, but he thought it was worthwhile.

The children are grown now and on their own, and my friend is getting older with the usual maladies associated with aging. He complains about waiting long periods to see a doctor and worries that one day, the lack of attention will kill him. I'm not sure he's so happy about national health care now.

Terminally Ill is a convenience definition for doctors.

A buddy was sent home from the Army with terminal cancer of the liver. He was given 6 months to live. He didn’t die until 40 years later, but his VA records listed his illness as terminal through the whole 40 years.

National health systems - the world over - do not seem to like the elderly. I was raised Catholic and we believe in taking care of the weakest among ourselves...

“He complains about waiting long periods to see a doctor and worries that one day, the lack of attention will kill him.”

It is that way here unless you go to a doc-in-a-box and then quality is hit and miss. The med schools, for whatever reason, are not putting out enough doctors.
