Hmm
I’d say Peter Arno, Charles Addams - all the greats of the New Yorker.

Has any cartoonist had the brainwave to simply create a book that depicts muhammad saying what he said and doing what he did? Like to see the stupid savages field that one. Depictions of Muhammed are prohbited.

OK, so you consider the New Yorker to be a comic book?

Frank Frazetta drew Lil' Abner for YEARS (daily and Sundays), his own strip "Jonny Comet", funny animal comics, sf covers, some stories for EC, some stories for Warren (Eerie), and contributed to Harvey Kurtzman's Little Annie Fannie.
Comics didn't pay nearly as well as advertising but he became a widely used commercial artist for movie posters in the 60s and 70s (everything from What's New Pussycat to Clint Eastwood's The Gauntlet, Robert Rodriguez even hired him to do a painting for From Dusk Till Dawn but was shot down by the studio (Disney)).
After his stroke he had to relearn his craft painting with his left hand.

WHERE in the interview are Robert’s jealous shots at Mad Magazine? I word searched it for Mad, the interviewer made a comment quoting another writer from the Observer. That’s all I found.
Robert grew up with Mad (the comic book and then magazine). I’ve never seen any indication that he felt that was where he wanted to be or that he was “rejected” there.
He had his own magazine Weirdo in the 70s-90s.

"...Robert Crumb is considered by many to be the single best cartoonist America has ever produced..." Oh good grief. These people really believe this crap.

I agree somewhat. but if you look past his eccentricity and his whole family weirdoship, I still see a great talent in the man. The sad thing is he uses it in the wrong direction. Still, when he is dead and gone, I believe the world will grieve a great loss. Let me say again , I am only praising his art talent .

R. Crumb calls it like it is.
No, youre the only one. You dont have journalists over there anymore, what they have is public relations people. Thats what they have over in America now. Two-hundred and fifty thousand people in public relations. And a dwindling number of actual reporters and journalists.

Try reading it in context. This is such a dumb debate - Crumbheads need to get over themselves.

...and what about that little paragraph that he’s worried about those poor little Muslims who will be targeted by right-wing fanatics after they murdered 14 people in Paris last week.

There was a quote yesterday in the New York Observer from a writer who once worked for Charlie Hebdo. He said, Mad Magazine is to Charlie Hebdo as Taylor Swift is to R. Crumb. >>[Laughs.] Oh, yeah? Thats funny.
SUCH jealousy. Wow. Project much?

The New Yorker is famous for its cartoons. It still the best thing in it since Tina Brown destroyed it years ago.

Liberals always get in with the hand wringing and stone throwing.
Art Spigelman (in that Democracy No interview) also talked about the blowback after 9-11, the flag waving, and the suspicion of the muslim “other”.
Islamists are separate from mainstream society because they choose to be.
Their legal system is apart from Western civilization’s. They seek to establish their own courts, buy from their own Islamist food vendors (some insist they should not trust Jews’ and Christians’ food to be halal), etc.
