Oh, you dont say!
In all seriousness, many conservatives will be taking a serious look at Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) in 2016. Hes effective, hes conservative, and he knows how to put together winning coalitions. His most recent electoral romp, however, is an absolute game-changer -- and why wouldnt it be?
Hes now won an impressive number of state-wide elections since 2010. Arguably, hes the most despised Republican governor in America (on the Left). So whats not to like?
But, dear reader, will he make the leap? Asked recently if he had once and for all quelled those rumors, he told Salem radio host Hugh Hewitt the following (via Truth Revolt):
Has Gov. Walker Ruled out a presidential run in 2016?: 'Absolutely not'
Oh, absolutely not. I mean, its one of those where I very much believe that our next president should be a governor. And I think you look at the mess in Washington, and you realize we need leaders from outside of our nations capital, and we need people who have been successful. And I think with what Ive had to go through in the last four years, both politically, but also in terms of the policies, certainly I feel that theres a reason God put me in a spot to do the things that weve done and take on the kind of challenges weve done. And its certainly something Im going to take seriously, and really look at it closely over the next month or two.
His response tells us three things: First, hes seriously considering running for president, but perhaps more importantly, he wants everyone to know it. In other words, he's eager to put out feelers and test the waters. Second, hes outright implying, if not downright suggesting, that candidates like Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul are probably unqualified to be president. The nation needs a governor to take the reins in 2016, you see, not an untested Washington legislator. And finally, his response is a subtle reminder that, not unlike Mike Huckabee and Rick Perry, hes a devout and serious Christian.
Why does this matter? Well, if youre a Republican primary voter whos undecided and wants an experienced, electable, and accomplished man of faith to win the nomination, who better to support than the Republican governor of Wisconsin?
That, if anything, seems to be the message Walker himself is attempting to convey.
So will I
I share that “ridiculous” opinion of supporting Senator Cruz, as do many freepers. Perhaps you should be a little slower to simply ridicule that opinion and come up with some better facts to support your candidate since the “be a gov!” is working about as well as “vote for the letter R!”.
Cruz would have served the same length of time in office as Governor Palin has, yet the FR hypocrites continue to call Palin a quitter but is silent on Cruz.
Walker is not perfect, but he is far, far better than most of the field.
This nation will not elect another Senator. I love Ted Cruz, but he needs executive experience if he wants the big chair.
Let the liberals nominate Elizabeth (pow wow) Warren and see what happens.
We cannot afford to let the RINO (Jeb) win the nomination.
We need to coalesce around a solid, conservative governor.
Walker beat the liberals three times now. They hate him. Their heads will explode when he trounces Warren across 50 states.
Will Walker be perfect? Nope. I know better.
But, he will be far, far better than Jeb or any creature with a D after their name.
Our next President should be a conservative!
Ted Cruz!
The circular firing squads are forming. The “I Walk on Water” conservative cult is mustering.
It’s the “NO LESSER EVIL!” crowd.
Who never realizes they just excluded everybody who is not Jesus Christ.
Ted Cruz has far more experience FIGHTING for the Constitution than anyone else in consideration for the 2016 Republican nomination.
Ted Cruz is a champion debater, he is charismatic, and he possesses the cool, steely resolve absent in the other GOP nominees. Ted Cruz knows how to stick it to Obama and will skewer Hillary in the debates.
Alone among the potential Republican presidential candidates, Ted Cruz has the ability to draw votes from disaffected Democrats. Ted is not in the GOPe club like Walker. Ted will fight for America and the Constitution.
Awwww, he’s someone’s LESSER EVIL and that is enough to “DAMN” him...
This kabuki dance amuses me.
I heard him on the Laura Ingram show yesterday, and he did say we need to secure the border. Where some of you are getting this misinformation puzzles me.
I don’t have any misinformation.
Sure, he’ll haul out what he can talking to Ingraham, but he has said he wants to make it so every single person in Mexico or any other country who wants to come here legally is allowed to do so, so there’s no reason for anyone to bother trying to come here illegally. He would also allow illegals currently here to stay—and to eventually become citizens.
Please don’t go accusing others of misinformation if you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Pence and Walker are more straightforwardly pro-amnesty, so I don’t think you can in any way want them to be president.
Scott has the equivalent of 2 PhDs in political science!
Yes! Jimmeh Cahtuh was supposed to have been the President with the highest IQ, and look how well he did!
Presidents who did not graduate from college, per wikipedia
George Washington
Andrew Jackson
Martin Van Buren
William Henry Harrison (attended college but never received a degree)
Zachary Taylor
Millard Fillmore
Abraham Lincoln (had only about a year of formal schooling of any kind)
Andrew Johnson
Grover Cleveland
William McKinley (attended Allegheny College and Albany Law School but did not receive degrees)
Harry S. Truman (went to business college and law school but did not receive a degree)
The last President to not have graduated college, Truman, was a horrendous President. But I think that is a coincidence since almost every democrat to hold the office has been a horrendous President.
Walker remains my first choice. It’s an added bonus if ivory tower libs are upset he’s not a college grad.
PS: Walker is not for “open borders” like fools say on every thread about him. Walker is the class of Republican Governors.
That’s *exactly* what I want to see! Just imagine- a competent, conservative president going about his proper duties- with Ted Cruz as his media/congressional hit man- and then eight years of Ted Cruz in the White House!
Norquist supports Walker so expect the terrorist money to come flowing in soon.
“Who never realizes they just excluded everybody who is not Jesus Christ.”
Amen.
*BUMP*
Love My Gov!
The fur starts flying this week. Lots on the docket for Wisconsin Legislators. Let’s see what Governor Walker does and SIGNS these next TWO YEARS before we totally make up our minds.
I think he’s the real deal.
Well, Iowa is less than 13 months from now so we don’t quite have 2 years to choose. ;p
