EXCLUSIVE — SEAN HANNITY CALLS FOR TREY GOWDY TO REPLACE BOEHNER AS SPEAKER, GOWDY DECLINES
Breitbart ^ | December 30, 2014 | by MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 12/30/2014 5:01:53 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Fox News host Sean Hannity, also a nationally-syndicated radio host, tells Breitbart News exclusively that he thinks Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) should challenge Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) for the Speakership of the House.

“The American people need bold inspiring solutions to reverse the damaging policies of the President and his party,” Hannity said in an email. “This is not a time for half measures. It’s time for new dynamic leadership in the House of Representatives. Trey Gowdy is my choice for speaker. He has the ability to articulate and implement the changes needed to get the country on the right path.”

Gowdy has a “plan to balance the budget, secure the borders, push for energy independence and replace Obamacare with personal healthcare savings accounts,” Hannity said, adding that Boehner has burned conservatives far too much.

“John Boehner has snubbed and ignored conservatives for too long, as evidenced by the recent cromnibus budget deal he made with Obama, Reid and Hoyer,” Hannity said. “It’s time he step aside for the good of country and the conservative movement.”

Gowdy, through spokeswoman Amanda Duvall, declined the invitation from Hannity to challenge Boehner.

“Rep. Gowdy has said his time and attention will continue to be devoted to the work assigned to him,” Duvall said in an email in response to Hannity’s quote. “He is not interested in any leadership positions and believes one can have influence without the title.”

Speaker Trey Gowdy ... majority leader Ted Cruz ... has a nice sound, doesn't it.

That’s too bad, he would be great in that position.

+1 for Marsha Blackburn. I also think that Rep Gohmert from Texas would make a great Speaker. He’s against amnesty, articulate and IIRC he is a former judge. I believe he is also one of a handful of Pubbies that voted against cromnibus.

I second the notion... Marsha Blackburn would be a great choice for Speaker of the House!

Back when I lived in Tennessee in the early ‘00s, Blackburn was absolutely tremendous in helping rally massive public support against state lawmakers and the governor who deviously attempted to ram through a state income tax behind closed doors.

She has a lot going for her, and it would be a smart move to oppose Boehner with a strong, smart female Representative. It would be so right to have her in position before the 2016 election with a Hillary or Warren run in the offing. She’d be able to shred them and NOT have to apologize because she was an old white male.

She is the perfect choice, and someone should notice it.

Of course, at this point, Gowdy would play coy. If it were offered, he certainly would take it. There is nothing inherently wrong with ambition.

I just noticed Gowdy filed an Amicus Brief along with Cruz and many many others to the 25+ State Lawsuit against Obama’s Executive Amnesty.

So whoever is posting that Gowdy is pro-amnesty is spreading lies about him.

Still, Hannity should have called his office before firing off on his show about it.

if Jesus should return and decided to run for office, I'm sure the purists here can find a way to trash him too

You GOP Party hacks are truly pathetic, broken records of intimidation upon Conservatives with principles.

Jesus NEVER compromised His Principles with lesser evils for the sake of His own fleshy desires, yet you would intimidate Conservatives who refuse to do the same.

As to potential RINO motivations: This would pull Gowdy off the trail on Benghazi.

I vote for Alan West as House Speaker. That should send liberals over the edge.

It does not have to be a sitting member- how about the only one that actually balanced the budget before?

Newt Gingrich

Noot never balanced the budget. The national debt increased each year he was Speaker.

yet you would intimidate

Intimidate? LOL! One only has to look at the long list of ex-FReepers who have left due to the bullying tactics such as you're using right now or have been banned over the past 7 years simply for not subscribing to the collective group think to see where the REAL intimidation comes from....

I often ask myself, if this were 1986 and President Reagan was about to sign the Simpson, Mazzoli Act, how would he be treated by you and the current group of FReepers?

Like a good Liberal, you are projecting. It is your ilk who engage in bullying (i.e.; 'Purists', 'Traitors', responsible for Obama'; "Pelosi, Reid and Obama thank you for not voting for the RINO' etc., etc.)

You create a straw man by inserting Reagan and our hypothetical treatment as some kind of bellwether against principled Conservatives here, yet you GOP Apologists never discuss how the GOP Ruling Class Oligarchs treat Conservatives right now, at this moment.

Instead you slander and assert that Jesus is not good enough for Conservatives simply because we will not practice insanity and compromise our principles any longer by voting for your Party's Liberal Leftists.

Gowdy and Sean Hannity are both RINOs on immigration.

He promotes Rubio and dressed like a tough guy with Rick Perry at the border.

Nice rant bro, but I'm not impressed with the thought process that went into creating it.

You gonna print it out and stick it on your bathroom mirror so that you can pat yourself on the back for how clever you think you are every time you brush your teeth?...LOL!

Just curious, have you ever thought about getting a cat to keep you company?

Good for Sean, Boehner needs to go.

The communists in the 60’s vowed to take over one or both parties. They successfully have completely taken over the democrat party and the leadership of the republican party. Time to start exposing these traitors for who they really are and kick them out for good and prosecute where necessary.

About what I would expect in reply from someone who calls principled Conservatives ‘Purists’.

You acolytes of Alinsky go far and wide it would seem.
