EXCLUSIVE — SEAN HANNITY CALLS FOR TREY GOWDY TO REPLACE BOEHNER AS SPEAKER, GOWDY DECLINES
Breitbart ^ | December 30, 2014 | by MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 12/30/2014 5:01:53 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Fox News host Sean Hannity, also a nationally-syndicated radio host, tells Breitbart News exclusively that he thinks Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) should challenge Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) for the Speakership of the House.

“The American people need bold inspiring solutions to reverse the damaging policies of the President and his party,” Hannity said in an email. “This is not a time for half measures. It’s time for new dynamic leadership in the House of Representatives. Trey Gowdy is my choice for speaker. He has the ability to articulate and implement the changes needed to get the country on the right path.”

Gowdy has a “plan to balance the budget, secure the borders, push for energy independence and replace Obamacare with personal healthcare savings accounts,” Hannity said, adding that Boehner has burned conservatives far too much.

“John Boehner has snubbed and ignored conservatives for too long, as evidenced by the recent cromnibus budget deal he made with Obama, Reid and Hoyer,” Hannity said. “It’s time he step aside for the good of country and the conservative movement.”

Gowdy, through spokeswoman Amanda Duvall, declined the invitation from Hannity to challenge Boehner.

“Rep. Gowdy has said his time and attention will continue to be devoted to the work assigned to him,” Duvall said in an email in response to Hannity’s quote. “He is not interested in any leadership positions and believes one can have influence without the title.”

Trey Gowdy would be fine with me, but on the whole I’d rather not see him saddled with all the admin duties of Speaker. It could divert him from what he does so well, using his powers of cross-examination to reduce pompous bureaucrats and chatterers to incoherence.

Worth repeating. Thanks!

“...I’d go after Marsha Blackburn. Female opponent could play the female card against both Obama and Boehner....”
********************************************************************************************************
And Marsha Blackburn suffers no fools from what I’ve seen and is neither gutless (like Boehner when it comes to dealing with anyone other than conservatives) nor beholden to the K Street lobbyists.

I will not fault Congressman Gowdy one bit.

He needs to be selective about his confrontations, as a misstep hurts further action.

I sympathize with Hannity's motive, but he's not the one prioritizing effective actions for critical impacts for the next two years.

Will Mister Boehner take this as an insult?

One can only hope.

We conservatives don't need our guys tied up with petty stuff that the Speaker must handle.

Please Boehner staffer, go back to your worthless, lackey tasks or better yet, do the noble thing and quit and write a tell all book on how the RINO GOPs laugh at their conservative constituents while they attend the latest vogue DC cocktail party!

It might work better of they all vote for Pelosi and then we have real gridlock.

"Mr Boehner - I represent 50 Conservative Representatives. We want you to step down as Speaker, and we want to nominate a Conservative to the Speaker role. If you do not, my coalition will vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker. Either way, you are out. You cannot win. You have lost the support of the American people. Please step aside. Be a Patriot."

Gowdy does not want to give up his new big office (for a broom closet) or his seee-lect committee

Then I say TRASH HIM!!!...TRASH THEM ALL!

And if Jesus should return and decided to run for office, I'm sure the purists here can find a way to trash him too.........after all, didn't he lay the ground work for the first welfare state when he passed out free fish and wine to the masses? /s

I agree Marsha is great.
Gowdy is a Amnesty sell out caught red handed holding private La Raza coordinated Sob sessions !
He is sadly a fraud.
Lois Lerner and the IRS are still on the loose!

Two years ago, people were trying to get both these guys into Speakership consideration, and both at that time said ‘no’ for their own reasons. Looks like nothing has changed.

This is the time for some unknown, but experienced backbencher to step forward and speak forcefully for taking the Speakership. When this person actually gets it, wresting the crown away from Boo-Hoo Boehner, both Jordan and Gowdy will be kicking themselves, saying, ‘I didn’t think it would be so easy! I could have been a contender!!’

There’s a few that would like to pretend all of us forgot their devotion to the liberal. We didn’t.

“all Gowdy did was hold hearings. He didn’t bring attention to the findings. He hasn’t sought to punish the IRS or those involved.
Basically he hasn’t shown ruthless Conservative leadership qualities so don’t see why Hannity and some others are giving him support.”

Exactly, I have been very disappointed in the new Benghazi hearings, he's chairing. It's all about what can be improved, instead of looking at what happened. He had a day of Benghazi hearings that gave cover to the Dems just before the elections.

Hannity should never have supported him without asking Gowdy if he was interested. There are plenty of good conservatives who may be interested in Hannity’s support. He should support a conservative that wants his support.
