If you want to make sure the death penalty is not botched, simply put a bullet in the back of the condemned man’s head after he put unconscious. Simple and he will feel no pain.

I would rather pray for an end to inhuman monsters that are so dangerous that there is no rational solution for them other than execution.
Life sentences? Hah. No prison is escape-proof. Some people are so dangerous that the very possibility that they might escape and kill again is too much risk for the innocent community - and therefore they must be put down.

This is why I strongly advocate that states with a death penalty have a fall back ‘means’ of execution of the firing squad. It is very inexpensive, the equipment used is ubiquitous, every LEO in the state is qualified to pull a trigger.
It is much, much harder to appeal, stop or delay. It is not “cruel and unusual”. It is fast, with little or no chance of screwing up. It doesn’t matter if the condemned is tall or short, thin or fat. Male or female.
Properly used, it could take perhaps 5 years off the two decades or more appeals process. So faster justice.
And can be used again, too. Just trying to be helpful. :))

Cartridges only cost between one to five dollars a round, cost saving there.
Far less than housing, feeding, clothing, educating, medicating inmates over the course of a life sentence.
This raises an interesting issue. Making reference to scripture would appear to violate the First Amendment under most Supreme Court interpretations. However, I imagine that the usually God-hating liberals would readily share your view for this purpose alone.

The problem is it takes about 10 years to execute someone because of all the appeals required by the Supreme Court rulings. It costs considerable less to house and feed someone for 40 years.

MO had been trying for one a month but only got 10 done. Such a shame. Already got the 1st one of 2015 lined up.
The first execution known in what is now the USA was of Captain George Kendall by firing squad in 1608.
15,269 people have been executed from 1608 to 1991.
Approximately 864 have been executed since 1991.
So, an approximate grand total is 16,493 from 1608 to August, 2014 over 406 years.
Not one of those 16,493 executed persons has KILLED again. That is an indisputable fact.
My argument in favor of the death penalty is this: Folks, the vast majority of those men executed were very, very, very dangerous and fearsome human beings EVEN locked in a steel cage!
There can be no doubt then in any sane persons mind that many of these executed prisoners would have killed again had they not been caught and put to death.
So, the death penalty saves lives. Period.
The counter argument from lefty’s is “well, they would have been in prison and not out in the general public”. I say to that “well, lefty, it’s ok with you that they kill other inmates and guards and that we the taxpayers spend billions housing, feeding and providing health care to them for centuries”................all so that you can “feel good”!
