Circus tricked kids with dogs painted as pandas [Italy]
The Local ^ | 12/23/2014 | Staff

Two painted chow chow dogs posing as pandas have been seized from a circus in northern Italy, after tricking children into handing over cash, police have said.

The male and female dogs were seized by police after it became clear that they were not, in fact, pandas.

To an unassuming child visiting the circus in Brescia, a small furry animal with white and black stripes may do the trick.

But The Local readers may notice a distinct difference. Here is a real panda:

And here are the dogs-in-disguise:

The police were not fooled, who said the dogs were put on display ahead of the circus show. Children posed for photos with the animals, paying a fee for the “panda” privilege.

The environmental police moved in to seize the animals, which they said were in general good health but had particularly watery eyes. This was “probably aggravated by the continuous exposure to camera flashes”, Italy’s environmental police said in a statement.

Police moved in on animal cruelty grounds and the circus owner is facing charges over the animals’ false passports. The chow chows were imported from Hungary and were six months younger than documents stated, police said.

The circus owner could also be caught for cheating his customers out of cash.

If you can spring for the food, I always thought the Caucasian Shepherd (aka Russian Bear Dog) would make pretty much the ultimate intimidation dog...

Have never seen a Caucasian Shepherd before. I think that may be the biggest dog I’ve ever seen. Man that is huge! No one’s going to break into your home with one of those at home. That’s for sure.

The Caucasian shepherd is rather intelligent; however, they can be insolent and refuse to listen at times.

Well, an insolent 150 pound dog can be a problem.

Especially if he’s Caucasian! Probably a rasiss dog too. LOL

Other than passing them off as ‘pandas’ I can see nothing wrong.

Yes...a dog that’s used to hunt bear and wolves is probably not a dog to be trifled with.

I have a large breed dog (pyrenees), and she doesn’t eat as much as you’d think.
It’s more while they’re growing up that they burn through the food.

It depends on their temperament, metabolism and exercise level. I’ve had GSDs and Tervurens and they put away their share of groceries.

I bought a dog the other day. I named him Stay. It’s fun to call him. “Come here, Stay! Come here, Stay!” He went insane. Now he just ignores me and keeps typing. He’s an East German Shepherd.

Indeed!

Even my lovely Little Lynn-Dah-the-Lab/Chow, can be insolent at times.

And then she can be a handful!

Waukegan Illinois,some years back.
Many reports of an escaped lion!
Numerous witnesses saw it in the bushes of a large apartment complex!
Days later.
A local junkyard was missing it’s pet with a unique hair cut!

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears! Oh my!

Just let him catch a bear once in a while.

Food for a week!

A small backhoe can help with the yard.
