Well, that “Independent” (who votes with Obama incessantly) Sanders is a wishful, hopeful, disillusioned conservative’s dream of what could might possibly, hopefully be something on the road to conservative, couldn’t he?

The other Senator is a Democrat.

Well Vermont is already RED....like in Marxist.

I knew (worked with...old school chums, etc) some of the Brooklyn, NY, progressive types who all upped and moved (some just as a vacation home but with voting privileges), to Vermont in the 70s and 80s to purposely take over an entire state (Ben and Jerry are classic examples).

it would be wonderful to think that the pendulum is swinging back the other way.

It’s a funny state. No question: it has socialist politicians. But it’s always had the right idea on gun control — it’s constitutional carry. That’s something.

It's all about social issues here. A charismatic Libertarian could easily be successful.

It would but it's not happening any time soon. Voting was low in this non-presidential election and the center and right were extremely concerned about Shumlin-care. Our largest private employer, IBM, had been teetering on closing for a few years and people worried single-payer would push them and others out of state.

I know. Vermont is already RED, as in communist. That is one reason which I think conservatives should be referred to as Blue and Liberals as Red—it’s more consistent that way.

It’s the media’s fault. They deliberately switched the colors on Election Night 2000 for the parties. Chillingly Orwellian. It’s on us to correct the willful mislabeling at every turn.

No, the incumbent party had always been blue and the challenger red.

Nope. You may have had some isolated media outlets using such a scheme, but nobody prior to 2000 called Republicans “Red” unless referring to its most leftist members.

When the red and blue state terms first appeared on TV pubbie states were blue and dim states were red. We all thought that fit quite well. Especially since the Dim’s are marxists and anti-American. The next election cycle pubbie states were red and dim states were blue. It has been that way since. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Who runs the propaganda media?

“When the red and blue state terms first appeared on TV pubbie states were blue and dim states were red.”

They used to alternate based on which party was incumbent but they decided it was too confusion to the viewers so they set the colors to be the same for the future.

Maybe it’s time to switch to Black & White states.

But that would be racist.

Heh. Well, you could only do that with counties, since the only majority Black entities are D.C. and the Virgin Islands. SC and MS were once majority Black, but not in roughly a century.

“Vermont is already RED, as in communist. That is one reason which I think conservatives should be referred to as Blue and Liberals as Red—it’s more consistent that way.”

It used to be True Blue for Republicans and Red for democrats, but there were jokes about Red being appropriate for democrats and the media apparently got together, probably at the behest of democrats, and switched True Blue to the democrats and Red to the Republicans.

The other thing is that RED is the color of anger. Blue tends to denote both sadness and peace. So, it fits with the MSM narrative that conservative states are filled with angry, white people.
