NO public school is in the best interest of children.

Period.

It's for the children, don't you know?

And I forgot to add that going from a Catholic School to a public school is like going from a Japanese car to a Yugo.

School district denies transfer request. I don’t know about Delavan, but around here the school district would be reluctant to lose a student because of state aid.

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

HT to Whenifhow for this article.

For skool districts, what is important is the number of seats occupied on any given day - federal funds are paid based upon the head count.

Note, nothing is paid based upon what goes into said head.

--just as a historical note, when I was young , it was very difficult to switch school districts, especially in the small rural one-room school type, because all school districts were almost totally dependent on property taxes in their district alone for funding.

--if a parent wanted to have their child or children to go to a school outside their district, they had to pay a stiff tuition for the privilege---

Bottom line is the parents moved into that district without considering which district would be best for their children. Happens too often. Instead of buying a house, parents should be buying a school first and foremost.

This story shows that there are increasing attempts to control everything. There is a big push to eliminate parent’s rights in Agenda 21.

Parents who choose to homeschool be aware of the following article. This has been averted for now - they will continue to try to gain control.

D.C. Backs Off Plan to Make Superintendent the ‘Head’ of All Home Schools
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/12/15/d-c-backs-off-plan-to-make-superintendent-the-head-of-all-home-schools/
The Washington, D.C., public school system has relented on a plan to put the superintendent in charge of all home schools in the District, after strong objections from home-school advocates and parents.
An early draft of new graduation guidelines released Nov. 25 said that “in the case of private instruction where a student is home-schooled, the ‘head of the educational institution’ would be the State Superintendent of Education.”

That is no longer the case, said Victoria Holmes, a spokeswoman for the D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education.

going from a Catholic School to a public school is like going from a Japanese car to a Yugo.

More accurately, it is like going from a Catholic School to a juvenile delinquent, lord-of-the-flies holding facility.

Sending kids to public school is child abuse.

LOL. That is the truth.

I remember when I had to have my kids go to a school outside their district; the principal was the authority from whom I had to seek permission, which was given, but was conditioned on me moving into the area within a 6-month time period (IIRC). He extended the time period...but explained that they have district rules and children residing within the school area have priority and if their numbers fill by those students, my children could not (technically/legally? I can’t remember) stay.

“Sending kids to public school is child abuse. “

Shame on you.

It may not be something that you would do but it certainly isn’t child abuse. By calling it that you are minimizing what a horror true child abuse is.

Real child abuse happens in public schools every day.
