Upbeat Cosby expects ‘black media’ to stay neutral
NY Post ^ | December 13, 2014 | Stacy Brown

Bill Cosby broke his silence Friday, albeit briefly, to lecture the media on remaining “neutral” and to say that his wife is standing by him.

Reached at his Massachusetts home, the star declined to address the rape and sex abuse allegations from an ever-growing list of women that now includes supermodel Beverly Johnson.

Instead, Cosby, 77, said that the African-American media — for which this reporter often writes — should be impartial.

“Let me say this. I only expect the black media to uphold the standards of excellence in journalism and when you do that you have to go in with a neutral mind,” Cosby said.

talk is cheap, evidence is harder to get from someone who claims to have been raped 30 years ago...If I were raped, the first place I'd go is to the hospital where evidence can be obtained...now its just something some women made up. They knew the statute of limitations for that crime is way gone...I don't know if any of it is true, but I see no evidence being brought forward....furthermore if someone is invited to a mans hotel room and she goes, she dumber than a box of rocks. If they were raped decades ago, don't expect sympathy from me, just enjoy your 15 minutes of fame..

as I said to you on another thread, what is said during a trial is not evidence. What someone says is not evidence, cross exam can prove testimony to be false of a lie. One persons say so is not evidence.. Evidence is needed to even bring about an arrest and prosecution...I don't think, based on what has been said that there is any DA dumb enough to bring it to trial...Unless they find a prosecutor as dumb as the one that tried it on the Duke students I wonder what job he has now...maybe its "would you like fries with that hamburger...

Race card.

Guilty or not of the rapes, he’s dead to me after playing the race card. Wish I’d never watched his shows. Disgusting piece of pond scum.

You SAY you would go to the hospital, but would you have if you had been raped by a celebrity in his house 30years ago? Do you think anyone would believe you? He has the money and power, no one would believe you, they would just think you were a slut. Reality is, 30 years ago ‘date rape’ wasn’t even in our vocabulary, and creeps like Cosby preyed on that.

Regarding your comment “furthermore if someone is invited to a mans hotel room and she goes, she dumber than a box of rocks.”

So you would throw this case out too? After all it is his own fault, right?

“A prominent activist for homosexual rights in the military is awaiting trial for forcible sodomy and abusive sexual contact, the Washington Blade reports.

Air Force Lt. Joshua Seefried was initially charged in April, a development that went largely unreported by the media. The charges came about after complaints from U.S. Marine Lt. Edgar Luna, who is also homosexual.

On a weekend in May of 2012, Seefried had gathered with a group of homosexual military officers in New York City. Luna was also present, and the group was celebrating the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which Seefried’s organization, called OutServe, had anonymously worked with several of the officers at the event to remove. After a few drinks at a restaurant, Seefried invited some of the officers to join him at his hotel spa. Later, Seefried and Luna reportedly separated off to a private hotel room.

Luna alleged that Seefried then made non-consensual advances on him, but couldn’t remember almost anything that had happened to him after the restaurant because of extreme intoxication. Luna awoke shortly after the incident, totally disoriented and naked.”

Thanks for replying to my post #7

To clarify I thought his statement about “black media” whoever that is, was crazy.

My point was those who attempt to bring charges after such a long duration do a disservice in promoting victim justice. We need to seriously change our culture and justice system if victims are afraid to come forth.

I don’t know if Cosby is or is not guilty. I refuse to judge based upon what a media that gets profits by increasing the shrill and hype index. They thrive on these types of cases that always revolve around something that they can then use to divide society - racism, gender, trans gender, guns, GLTB, etc.

Having served on criminal juries, I simply refuse to judge and try people based upon what the entertainment media says, be it Nancy Grace or Wolf Blitzer or etc.

I’m in the same boat, and like you I think that the justice system, unfettered, needs to work here. Certainly Cosby deserves no less, but it does concern me how much he spends on lawyers trying to “spin” this whole issue. If he were truly innocent, it seems to me that his legal approach would be completely different. People with money must not escape the system’s scrutiny.

I refuse to judge on mob mentality.
I want evidence.

It can be said that Bill was a player was back in the 60’s, that in it self does not make him a rapist and I would suggest all these women knew what they were flirting with at the time.

Why it has taken them so long to build a feminist front of sorts, tends to tell me they have nothing and are banding together to get money out of a guy they think has lost his public edge.

So you ignored post 23 and continued with your lie.

It seems you have judged and everyone is lying about being drugged, raped or assaulted, but Cosby.

Oral evidence offered by a competent witness under oath, which is used to establish some fact or set of facts.

Testimony is distinguishable from evidence that is acquired through the use of written sources, such as documents.

What about the two who filed police reports within a year or two of the rapes?

For instance the one who filed one year later, found 13 more women to testify to his methods, and who Cosby settled out of court with?

How about his long time girlfriend who was puzzled why he drugged and raped her, when he didn’t need to?

We have have almost a couple of dozen of these accusations and the story has been around long enough, why do you keep describing the situation inaccurately?

expected to take responsibility for the situations she put herself in

—the other side of the coin may be consideration of the sexism and job discrimination that was rampant in those times. women had little or no choice about what opportunities they would get in society— dating, career, whatever. given that so called “decent” opportunities may have been few and far between, women might have felt compelled to take occasional risks for necessity’s sake.

chaperones for minors

—i’m not sure how long you go back, but i go back a ways and i never saw any chaperones in the time frame of most of the allegations. women need chaperones to date? if i were a woman, i would object to such a prejudice and doctrinaire imposition on my freedom. at least, in the lower and middle classes.

Yes I would go to the hospital. My father was a cop and he'd take me. Celebrity has nothing to do with it...My generation (I'm 75) and most of the women think todays young women are rather naive or down right dumb...spread their legs for anyone that smiles and have illegitimate children and single mothers up the ying yang of both races...There were few rapes, cause most boys knew what a shot gun marriage was. Get a girl pregnant and you had to marry her. Both families knew that. Today I see some commercials that border on soft porn...we didn't have adult movies, we had dirty movies and perverts you had to know someone to get your hands on a dirty movie. Date rape was no such word in my teens, as I said jail bait was known by everyone. o Of all the gals I knew, one got preg. and she spent the summer on her grandma's farm and the baby was adopted. She was back in school the next semester...Guys knew what no meant. I am not saying they didn't try, but most gals didn't want to get pregnant. We didn't kill 1,000,000 babies a year. We were smart enough not to be whores. You know, all those names that are common today, whores, slut and other names men call gals. There were a few easy gals and all the guys knew who they were

If any gal went up to a hotel room with some jerkwad, she knew what to expect. I didn't know any celebrities so that doesn't enter into the debate. Most gals had self respect, not the stupid Self esteem that means nothing...girls hold themselves quite cheap now a days. My graduation class has over 500 kids, there were a few lesbians and a couple of homosexuals but they were not treated any different than any of the other kids. Today sodomites seem to be every where. The rape of a male is as bad as it is with a female.....gee aren't we all so enlightened today. Start them off in kinder garden and no one seems to care..

You could go weeks and not hear about anything from Washington....Now we have alphabet soup of departments and the government in our face all the time...I am glad I lived in a country that was free and didn't kill babies cause some dumb slut couldn't keep her knees together...sorry for the language but you were the first to bring up the word slut.....

I don't know what Cosby did or didn't do. But without solid evidence, in this country your innocence until proven guilty.

glad you know how to use a dictionary, but legal is not evidence. It seems a lot of freepers don't know what evidence is.

.Oral evidence offered by a competent witness under oath, which is used to establish some fact or set of facts.

I have been in the witness chair one time, what I said on just my word is open to cross exam, that can determine truth or lie or mean nothing as far as evidence goes..

legal is not evidence?

legal is not even a noun.

i do not know what experience you may or may not have had, but i am having difficulty even parsing what you write. good grammar helps understanding and helps lend credibility.

however, i’ll probably end up believing a legal dictionary over anonymous internet definitions to the contrary anyway.

:-)

you lived in the countryside?

in the big city, and especially LA and NYC, people played by much different rules.

in LA today as well as back then, young women moved away from home to go there to try to make it big in the entertainment world. they did not have their families with them. the same went for young guys. without nearby family, there would have been undoubtedly much less social support structure to fall back upon if a woman was abused.

with all due respect, it sounds as if your countryside life experiences give you limited ability for perception of what these women allegedly experienced, unless you count judging from afar. is that what you are doing in this case?
