I guess you have to relate to them in “optics” with which they are familiar. :o)

The Homeboy Grip is part of the undercover act.

I did notice that his finger was not on the trigger and he seemed to be using it more like a pointer. I don't know about the ghetto grip, thing but I do know that the way people shoot on TV, is not going to be a very accurate shot.
Then there are the countless cop shows that show good guy taking on an arsenal with a pistol. Cops do have long guns in the car!

These guys (cops) risk their lives every second they are on duty and deserve our respect and co-operation instead of cheap slime-ball hit pieces in the news. The recent “bad press” the cops have been getting are very rare instances causedd by people breaking the law.

I can't put my finger on it, but the cop, somehow, just doesn't seem to achieve the look of a "Homeboy" no matter how he's holding his gun.

Look at the two guys to the side. What is this, invasion of the body snatchers?
To: GoldenPup
I think I would have a gun drawn in that situation as well.

That doesn’t look “home-boy” style, the angle of the wrist is wrong and the gun is too low. It looks like he has the gun slightly canted, which is a one handed firing technique I’ve seen people teaching. I just watched a segment on some defensive guns TV show, on the Sportsman Channel last week where they showed it. I am not advocating the use of this technique, just saying that I have seen people that teach it.

I saw the ‘gangsta grip’ but wondered if he was doing it so that the pictures would clearly show that he had his finger outside the trigger guard.

Obviously a dynamic situation, with lots of movement going on. The shot happened to catch the pistol in that angle.

The crowd is aggressive and it looks like he’s covering another officer attempting to subdue a perp.

If you take the gun out of the picture, his hand is positioned exactly as if he were pointing at someone, giving instructions.
