Senate finds CIA brutalized terror suspects for little intelligence gain

The CIA’s use of torture failed to gain any intelligence on imminent terrorist threats, didn’t lead to any high-level terrorists – including Osama bin Laden – produced fabricated information and was far more brutal than the agency has portrayed to policymakers and the public, according to a long-awaited Senate report released Tuesday.

We may, somewhat understandably, defend these actions. But here’s the problem... What do we do when, because of legal precedent, these tactics are used on us? We may, sometime soon, be seen as enemies of the state - because we don’t support gay marriage or whatever else they have coming down the pipeline.

Bottom line is that if this is used against us, it won't be because of the finer points of the law, but because they've gained dictatorial powers via a coup, and control all the security services.

the people and our military need to RISE UP and depose all these people and TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK , followed by a renewed resolve to completely WIN the global war on islamist terrorists.
These people are not going to go away by themselves . hey have become so adept at gaming the system , patriots and/or white folks will never see an ascendent America again in our history unless we STOP THEM NOW . It’s CW time pardners , whatever that means . The bad guys , both at home and abroad are never going to back down by themselves , they have to be shut down . Bayonet!

In this fallen world, we face a challenge from ruthless enemies whose malice knows no bounds. Alan Dershowitz, the American lawyer, has used the phrase ‘ticking bomb’ to refer to a scenario which we all devoutly wish will never occur. A terrorist group is believed to be in possession of a nuclear device. Time is desperately short, but we have captured a member of the group. In such circumstances, torture would surely be justified.

Another formidable lawyer and commentator, Sydney Kentridge, came up with a devilish refinement of the ticking bomb dilemma. We have captured a terrorist, but he is a such a hardened case that there may not be time to break him down. We have also captured his wife and children…

What a horrible problem. But it would be the height of complacent naiveté to assume that it will never require an answer from some Western leader in the course of this embattled century. My view is that if – God forbid – such a situation did arise, we would not only have the right to use torture. We would have the duty to do so.
