In a move likely to further inflame tensions with Israel's Arab citizens, the Israeli Cabinet on Sunday approved a bill to legally define the country as the nation-state of the Jewish people.

The decision, which set off a stormy debate that could bring down Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's brittle coalition government, followed weeks of deadly Arab-Jewish violence and was denounced by critics as damaging to the country's democratic character and poorly timed at such a combustible moment.

It now heads toward a full parliamentary vote on Wednesday....

Waste of time. Instead of passing resolutions reaffirming the 3000+ years history of the Jewish people and their land, better to resolve the problem by expelling or otherwise neutralizing the IslamoNazi enemy within. Keep them there and troubles will continue indefinitely, no matter what resolutions the Jerusalem government passes or doesn’t pass.

Codifying in Israeli law what's been known since the formation of the state in 1948, prior to that in the Balfour Declaration and the British Mandate. Interestingly the Mandate, a mandate to create not Israel but a Jewish state far larger than the stump Israel fought for, is amongst the League of Nations actions adopted by the UN at it's creation.
