Much as I despise these thugs, I think that this would set a dangerous precedent.

"There are huge constitutional issues."

Well there's yer problem! Pay a little more attention to what's happening in the WH and you'll understand how you screwed up. Get your client some soap on a rope.

This guy may deserve to be in prison but I would rather him be free than to be convicted on this. If the government doesn’t have to prove a real crime to put you in prison, how long before this same arguement is used to charge the editors of “Guns and Ammo?”

Should shouting fire in a crowded movie theater be protected free speech? Why or why not. Discuss.

MY only question in this is, “Does Duncan have a felony record and/or on parole for something?”

"It's no different than Snoop Dogg or Tupac," Watkins said. "It's telling the story of street life. If we are trying to criminalize artistic expression, what's next, Brian DePalma and Al Pacino?"

The advocate should be careful in trying to stretch a legal concept too far.

Call Rap art maybe taking the legal notion of art as a form of speech protected by the first amendment to an absurd extreme.

Calling Rap art is laughable in its self.

ON the other hand the prosecutors are on very thin ice if they are basing their case strictly on the album cover.

What happens to him if he chews a slice of watermelon into a gun?

Deputy District Attorney Anthony Campagna disagrees. "We're not just talking about an album of anything, of love songs," Campagna reportedly told the judge in court. "There is a revolver with bullets" on the album cover, he noted.

Dollars to donuts this DA is using this case for his own political self-promotion. He obviously does not give a rat's butt about freedom of speech. If this little fascist twit was around in Frederic Remington's day, he would have him brought up on charges for depicting guns in his paintings.

Watch this one closely -

they’re setting a dangerous precedent that could fast become a way of slamming us all into ‘camps’

Any word, any remarks, any photos, any drawings -

Evil is unshackled in the land.

How long before a copy of American Rifleman becomes a felony?

This law is pure fascism and an assault on free speech and the First Amendment. Americans need to remember that when evil people create an odious, insidious law they first prosecute people who gather little public sympathy. Once a number of prosecutions have happened and the good sheeple say nothing then it’s open season. Then this evil law will be used against everybody!

First, they’re going to violate the First Amendment rights and civil rights of gangbangers with this stupid, evil law and then they will use it against you and stifle your political free speech and possibly fine and imprison you for wearing a shirt logo that they can link to any group that has been deemed outside the law.

I call BS on this. It appears that everyone of these articles traces back to an extreme fringe “news” source:

http://countercurrentnews.com/2014/11/rap-artist-with-no-criminal-record-faces-life-in-prison-for-album-lyrics/#

No one did any additional investigation to see if ANYTHING in “counter current news” is true. All articles just mindlessly repeated the crap they found at “counter current news”.

As fuched up as things are right now, there’s still no way that someone would be in jail with a million dollar bail and face life in prison for just an album cover that had a gun on it.

These charges against him are bogus. You can't put someone in jail for publishing a photograph of a gun.

$HIT like this tells me we are entering into DANGEROUS territory in regard to the Government and our first and second amendment RIGHTS.

Whether you like "Rap" or not.. if this artist is convicted of ANYTHING it will be the beginning of the end.

Government will be set in motion to take it even further knowing that they CAN PREVAIL.
