Not to mention the fact that the NY Slimes was probably in the forefront of media shills calling for the abolition of the Electoral College in the aftermath of the 2000 election fiasco in which Al Gore tried to steal the Presidency.

At least we know they would write the same thing regardless if it was Obola or President Palin. /S

I’m sure it’s just my memory failing me, but I don’t recall seeing this sentiment anywhere in 2006.

When we elect a Republican President, liberals will come to love gridlock.

Then you will hear them tout the advantages of electing a Democratic Congress to serve as a check on his excesses and to repudiate unpopular policies.

That serves both side’s political interests too, depending on who is in favor with the electorate at a given time.

More proof, as if any were needed, that college is just a place to go to get stupider.

It used to be — back in the 1970s — that college freshmen entered Harvard with “a skull full of mush.”

Now they leave with a skull full of mush, and go on to be tenured professors at other colleges including Duke University.

Actually we should not even bother with elections unless we allow every one in the world vote, it’s only fair..

Let’s just get rid of elections all together.

One nation
One Party
One Leader

NYT jumps the shark....again.

As it is, I would like to see Michigan’s electoral votes awarded according to districts won. If a candidate wins 8 districts, that’s all the electoral votes he gets from that state.

That way, they could produce a billion votes in Detroit and it wouldn’t mean a thing because they would still only win the electoral vote of the district.

It also much more closely represents the will of the people like the house.

Even Hitler didn’t cancel elections, but for some odd reason, there was only one party allowed in those elections, something DemocRats fervently hope for in the USA.

Even if Republicans win they will “share power” with their democrat fascist friends just like last time.

The Left’s Islamist allies would call this suggestion a HUDNA which is a fake truce.

Gridlock is a key intended outcome in the Founders’ conception of a Constitutional Republic which might have some chance of not degrading into a tyranny. Of course the indoctrinated Marxists who inhabit Academia and the editorial desks at the NY Times see this as an obstacle. It is.

Hey, Duke prof, better idea: let’s cancel tenure. It made sense once, when colleges needed to hang on to the few Ph. D.’s there were, but now it’s a buyers’ market. Pack your bags.

When I read a comment like yours -- so perfect a response to the leftist writer on display in this thread -- it makes me want to register to comment on a bunch of other sites, like the slimes and other leftist rags, so I can repost some of the great stuff here in FR... just so that others can get the benefit.

I often think of doing that, but never do it. Just don't have the time. Maybe when I retire.

NYT sez-
“Another quirk is that, during midterm elections, the electorate has been whiter, wealthier, older and more educated than during presidential elections.”

There is a solution: Unless the voter is a member of an oppressed class, limit the franchise to those under 60. The future does not belong to geezers.
