Most people would likely avert their eyes when passing by a man with a mouth full of writhing worms, or, say, the sight of a pile of excrement. But some are more disgusted than others, and new research suggests those individuals who respond with a more intense "yuck" are more likely to hold conservative political views and specifically are more likely to oppose same-sex marriage.
"This is one more piece of evidence that we, quite literally, have gut feelings about politics," said study researcher Kevin Smith, a political science professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. "Our political attitudes and behaviors are reflected in our biology. Five of the images had been rated as "disgusting" by an independent group, and included: a man in the process of eating a mouthful of writhing worms; a horribly emaciated but alive body; human excrement floating in a toilet; a bloody wound; and an open sore with maggots in it. The participants also answered questions to gauge their political views. The results showed, as predicted, that those who indicated conservative political views responded to the icky pictures with much more intense disgust than did liberals.

It doesn't seem to show liberals in a great light if they are less repulsed by poop in a toilet so there is a long editorial rationalizing why conservatives are more repulsed by horrible images. I think if you start convincing yourself that mutilating unborn babies, and men having sex with one another is not disgusting, then what is?

I’d be willing to wager a large sum of money that if you took a political poll among attendees of horror movies, the vast majority would be liberals.
I find it ironic that they always claim the high ground on issues of children and compassion, yet they get enjoyment from watching others suffer, including children. The laws they support accomplish the same thing - causing others to suffer.
Sure hunters, outdoorsmen, military veterans and GIs, gun owners, charity volunteers, white blue collar men, married mothers, married dads, all the types who are dainty and don’t like anything yucky.

The difference is that while both conservatives and liberals would go “yuck” at a pile of excrement, at least the conservative wouldn’t vote for it.

Conservatives are more intelligent than liberals.
Provide a knife and a deer to a liberal and a conservative for field dressing and watch who bursts into tears.
